Gonna start on my 'non music' macs first.

I've read a thread on the Computeraudiophile forum and there seems to be some issues with some DACs because of drivers and slow computer performance because of re indexing after the installation of Mavericks.

There was no mention of Naim.

It would be helpful if Naim could confirm known issues or that there are no issues with the V1 and other products and software.

I'll wait a while, 'til the dust settles.

I'm with you BigH47 when it comes to big software upgrades. Let the early users be beta-testers and wade through the bugs. I'll dive-in after an update or two of kinks have been smoothed. But I'm always thankful for the mavericks.

Downloaded on my main MBP - problems with Mail, resolved by changing security setting from "Password" to "Apple Token;" streaming problems to ATV resulting in a stuttering image, seemingly resolved by restarting ATV and MBP. Otherwise, not much to report although Parallels / Windows 7 seems to run a bit quicker.

Not sure that I will bother for my other MBP, which can then be used as a backstop if other problems emerge.

Absolutely! I'm still running Snow Leopard on my MBP!

I think one of the problems with Apple recently is that a lot of the software "upgrades" are actually the complete opposite. I think iOS 7 is a backwards step from iOS6, and neither Lion nor Mountain Lion were improvements on Leopard/Snow Leopard.

Maybe not the best time or topic to admit that I'm still running Windows XP .

Not for long, though. I hear that support ship is about to sail along with its cargo of updates .

joerand may have to break down and buy a Windows 8-based computer instead of that new PowerLine .

I was about to pop this on my iMac but luckily a few folk have warned me that there's a problem with my Chord DAC's USB driver.

I've installed it on my Macbook and it seems fine, everything works as it should (so far). It does seem quicker.

The same for me.

Maverick's Mail.app doesn't play well with GMail accounts. Google this to understand the problems before you upgrade.

Working fine for me. No difference anywhere that I have noticed. Except maybe the coloured file tags. I hadn't noticed them before. Are they new?

(I am so glad that Apple are keeping things simple, and are not changing too much - our youngest son has Windows 8 on his laptop - an absolute nightmare for me, but he has become used to it, I guess.)

Mac Mini updated like a dream.  Well done to Apple, Naim/Audiphilleo, and Audivirna for the design and testing.

Will be interesting to see how Mavericks make more efficient use of RAM with the compressed memory feature....

Non music stuff (arguably more important), also a dream, along with iOS7 map integration etc etc.

Time for music now.....

All three of my machines were updated Wednesday. I downloaded the update overnight and did the laptop first as an upgrade, no problems. Then my wife's iMac, that went OK as well. Then I did a clean install on some new and larger hard disks for my Mac Pro. I've never done a clean install before but it went very smoothly.

I agree that the Mac takes a bit of time whilst it's indexing things but operation seems pretty good. Only one issue on the Mac pro is that Kaspersky anti virus will not install, they are fixing that slowly at the moment but I have an old version which is protecting my machine.

Importantly I keep my Mac mini server which has all my music attached to it on Snow Leopard!!

I'll wait on Mavericks.

The new iTunes variant works properly.

Thanks for the tip Mr Race Tripper! Having just had the worst e-mail disaster by moving to Sky Yahoo I set up a gmail account this morning...

I have loaded it up on my MM. Seems to be running okay, no faults with Safari or Mail yet. No big differences spotted yet either. Will be interesting to put it on my older iMac to see if it helps that along, being less powerful than the MM. That said, it is already pretty flawless anyway.

Racetripper. My gmail seems fine with new AppleMail!

Loaded last night. Initially it wouldn't recognise my iCloud password but was OK after a reboot. Seems to be working satisfactorily. What are supposed to be the advantages other than Maps, iBooks and tabs?

The list of new stuff is on the apple site, the forum rules mean I cannot post the link.  There are lot of under the hood stuff that could find its way into software such as Audivirna that would help audio.

Done after an issue with my lack of a password!

It has to have a password to install. apparently, and so could not get past the point where the password has to be put in.

I have a password now ...

My Mini (server) is still running 10.7.5 (Mavericks is 10.9). The software update says that there is no new software. I guess the server version is still coming?

Just answered my own question. The upgraded server is $20 and runs on top of the basic (free) Mavericks. I don't actually use any server functionality, so I might just switch to Mavericks. But then again, why?

I've just set up GMail on my Mavericked Macbook and it seems to work fine. I've not looked at the details of this potential problem; something pretty obsure perhaps?

Safari looks visibly faster to me. Not hugely, but pleasantly.

I use Chrome. The updated Safari loads the page differently, but I wouldn't claim any difference in speed compared to Chrome.

OK, ok, it is a smidge faster, updating the iMac and MBPro right now. Feelin the love for the Bookmarks sidebar. Why has it taken so long! Notifications is cool too.

I rely heavily on MS Word (unfortunate I know) for my lving.

Does anyone know of any issues with MS Office for Mac 2011?

Thanks
