Updating NDS cable?

Posted by: DQ on 26 October 2013

All,

Am finally going to update my NDS....what cable to you use? The manual says USB B to USB (googles as a printer style cable)....that can't be right.

Any ideas? Many thanks, David

You want USB to USB mini B.

Thanks....have loads of those....but where do I put the mini end? Assume I use the USB on the front of the unit to update?

Stick the USB in your windows PC and the mini b in the back of the NDS. in saying this, I'm hoping the NDS has this socket, as it's what's on the back of my SuperUniti. The little socket on the back should say 'update' or similar. Let me know if you find it!

I looked in the manual online - the mini B socket is two along from the network socket, and is called 'USB update'. Phew, I was right.

If you run a finger across the back plate you will easily feel the socket and its orientation, once you have devised roughly where it is located.

Thanks all...I found it.

Honestly, am at my wits end on this. I downladed the usb driver as instructed. rebooted everything multiple times and the computer cannot find the NDS. Any ideas?

I take it you have tried all the COM ports available in the software? Mine only shows one and the NDS is on it.

Harry,

No haven't tried them all. Will try that....I guess i just go through them one by one...I have four available.

Thanks, David

This would be my next move. And I wouldn't be surprised if it works.

Harry, thanks....one worked. Now moving to 3.17 and then I guess to 3.21

Without the help of this forum these products would be impossible. And I think of myself as relatively technically competent!

thanks again, David

Glad you got it sorted. It is a bit clunky but I'm used to it now.

All the best with it.
