Ndx 252/552

Posted by: Ian Jones on 27 October 2013

Afternoon everyone

Has anyone had experience of using a Ndx with a 252 or 552, I have recently moved my 282 on and gone back to a 202 for the very short term.

I am planning on moving to a 252 or if a 552 came up for the right money used, I would however have to use the Ndx for at least the next six months " the ndx would be bare" .

A Nds is on the cards, more then likely with a xps-2 to start with and by the end of year a 555ps.

My only worry is that the Ndx is not up to the 252/552.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I'm using a bare NDX with a 252/300 and I think it's great on the very detailed loudspeakers (Raidho C2.1) that I have.

I think it's never a bad thing to look at the big, longer term plan. Your present set up is well capable of showing off the musical ability of the NDS, when it turns up, and the benefits of of upping the power supply to it. Past that, if funds are no object and subject to audition (because you never know until you've tried it for yourself) the 252 is very musically coherent but the 552 is right out the other side of capable and into something approaching sonic Vodo. If an XPS firmly figures in your future with 555PS to follow, why not shuffle the sequence and allow the NDX to show you what it can do first?

Just my 0.02.

Hi Kaver.
Any chance of a quick write-up on the C2.1s , please. Ever had a chance to hear them at the end of a Nap 500/ top front end ? ATB Peter

Thanks for the replies

@Harry I would love the 552, I just they never seem to come up used and new is out of my reach for a few years.

@ Kavar have you tried xps on the ndx " I wasn't that keen on what it did to it, in the context of my system with the 282".

@Peter, never heard them on a 500 system, sorry. Beginning at the top, the treble of the speakers is extraordinary, it's very detailed without being bright. The noise level of the speakers is furthermore very low which means that one can listen to music at volume levels where it with comparable decibels would hurt the ear on most other speakers. Furthermore they have a very good 3d image (they should be placed relatively far apart with toe in), voices are fantastic and the small bass driver is very fast and really shines with a 300

@Ian, haven't heard the XPS, only a third party one which I don't have anymore and furthermore isn't allowed to be discussed here.
