Twonky and Folder Navigation Mode

Posted by: LCV on 07 November 2013

Hi everybody!

I have a problem using Twonky in folder navigation mode.

When I navigate my library by folder, my folders appear in alphabetical order and this is correct, the problem is that once I select a CD (folder) the tracks order is also alphabetical in this way the original order of the tracks is not respected and this is a big issue specially with classical CD.

I wonder if there is a way to solve this problem.

I also use as UPNP server E-lyrics on my mac ( I have many problems with this solution and this is the reason why  i decided to use twonky on my Qnap NAS) but if I navigate by folder using this software, CDs appear in alphabetical order and when I open a folder (CD)  the original order of the tracks is respected so this have something to do only with twonky.

I also tryed to use other UPNP streaming software on my iPad but the situation is identical so the problem is not between Twonky and Nstream but is a problem of twonky.

I had a look to the settings of twonky but I did not found a solution!

Some one have a solution?

Tahnk-you

Hi Lorenzo,

There is a solution that you can find by googling the problem.  It involves going into the Twonky folder on your NAS and adding line to the folder view.  I posted the solution on the forum a few weeks ago when this problem was brought up before.

Good luck!

Here is a link:   http://community.twonky.com/tw...rder_my_music_tracks

Follow the instructions as described by dwasifar.  I have the latest version of Twonky and this solution worked for me.  You need to do the editing on your NAS.

Good luck!

Access the NAS' folders using Windows and open the folder called "Twonkymedia".  Then go to the folder "views".  Inside you will see a file called "folder.view", open it with word pad and edit it as described in the post by dwasifar.  Save your work and restart Twonky server on the NAS and you should have tracks listed by number and not alphabetically.  If you are not comfortable doing this, I suggest getting someone to to it who is familiar with manipulating files.   Also save a copy of the original folder. view file on your computer so you can restore the original if you need to.

Good luck!

Antony, thank-you veery much for being so patient with me!

I need some other explanations due to my ignorance!

1) How can I access my NAS using Windows? (I am on a Mac)

2) I tried to navigate the NAS folder using the web browser in to the NAS but all what I can see is the folder named Multimedia and there I can only see the folder with my music but I did not find the way to see the folder Twonkymedia.

Sorry but I hav been using a NAS (qnap) since one month!

Thank you again

I am a Mac person as well!  I use an old PC for ripping and control of the NAS.  Anyway, you can do it on a Mac as well.  Click on your hard drive icon and you will see Favorites and Shared.  Under Shared, you should see your NAS, click on it and then you should see the folders on your NAS.  One should be Twonkymedia.  Click on the folder and you should see a folder named views.  There you should see one file called folder.view, right click on it and open with text edit.

Good Luck, save your work!

Sorry but I took a look as you said but I can only see the "normal" folders like "documents, multimedia" and so on but I can't find the way to visualize the folder "twonky media"

I don't know what to do!
