3.22 Update Cable Problem

Posted by: Freightliner Mark on 12 November 2013

Hello All

I have downloaded the NDS update and the instructions.

My problem is that I have looked at the suggested cable (9 pin to 9 pin RS232 serial) and it does not look like it will fit my 2 month old NDS.

(Normal USB to mini usb from a camera / Ipad or Blackberry wont fit.)

Could someone let me know where I get a cable to use from my laptop to the NDS and what is is called please?

Thank you for taking the time to read my question.

USB type A - USB Mini B

That's the one you want. I bought mine from Amazon for £6, made by Lindy. Type in Lindy USB to mini B and it will be revealed.

Trust me... at 44 you ARE still young.

In my case, Lindy and other cheap cables didn't work.

Naim support suggested me to use another cable.

Any suggestion?

QED Performance, Wireworld Chroma ... ?

I wouldn't spend a lot on a cable purely for an update? 'hifi' usb cable should be the same as any other for this purpose?

The Lindy works perfectly for me. £6 is serious money. I'm sure you can get a Chord Sarum version for the price of a small family car, but there is no point.

agree with Singlespeed and Hungryhalibut, but I've tried some cheap cables and they didn't work!

Without wishing to insult one's intelligence, are you certain it's the cable at fault?

Also, if you are UK resident, try poundland or the poundshops for a USB cable? I got a perfectly good 3.5-3.5 jack for system-automation from them...?

cheers

Pretty sure the problem is the cable.

They cost 20£ each, more or less.

Gave a last chance to another £3 Lindy ...

... It worked!

Nd5 is now updated to 3.22.

Thanks
