When is a Qute 24/96 not a 24/96?

I purchased my Qute new about a year ago now - got a bargain price on a 24/96 because of the imminent arrival of the 24/192's.

I've since built up a fair collection of 24/192 recordings, which I listen to through my SuperNait, however, whilst selecting a file in error I've found that I can also play them back through my Qute - and rather good they sound too!

Which leads me to ask - what would you expect to happen when you play a 24/192 file through a 24/96 streamer?

Your UPnP / DLNA server may be transcoding the file down to 24-bit / 96 kHz - I'd check this first.

Normally it wouldn't play it RobinH.

I have an original Uniti with 24/96 board.

I asked the same question a while ago and then at the recent 20% off Naim Label sale, I purchased the Meet Me In London 24/192 album as I'm going to upgrade to a Superuniti soon anyway.

Of course it simply didn't play on my Uniti without first down sampling in DB Poweramp.

As said, unless you have asked your DLNA (upnp) server to transcode, these files won't play.

If they do and your Nstream confirms it's playing 192/24 then congratulation you have a Qute with the higher spec streaming board for a bargain price.

Dear All

Thanks for your comments.

Playing Tusk at the moment and Nstream's reporting FLAC-9216kb/s-192kHz - guess I must just be a lucky boy!

Good for you. I love when the USC marching band enters.
