Is is a serious product for cyclists or just a gimmick?
I saw it on Top Gear but I was not sure I wanted one after the episode.
Skip - many of these bikes are used by commuters (>3 on my train), who cycle from mainline stations like Waterloo and avoid the tube network etc, given they can be folded-up and taken on trains in 'commuter hours' whereas ordinary bikes are often prohibited.
The company has, by media reports (revenues now ~ £10m p.a. at producer level looks strong), being doing very well lately as cycling has come in to vogue, with good demand from export markets. Their products aren't cheap in relative terms to other bikes and I don't think a serious cyclist would be interested.
Akin to VW Beetles, it seems there is a material custom/after-market for add-ons and 'improvements'.
