The dreaded Fault 36
Posted by: Bart on 23 November 2013
It's showed up on my NDS
Can/should I apply the 3.22 update (I've yet to do that), or reach out to Naim first to get the "patch" that is supposed to address this?
Well a couple of power cycles and the fault disappeared, so I did the update, quite successfully.
I guess I'll wait to see if it reappears and if it does reach out to Support.
When power cycling Bart, how long did you wait between switch off and switch on again?
Can I suggest you email Phil.Harris (@naimnet.com) and let him know - that'll do 2 things:
1) add to the list of people who have experienced this problem, so making Naim aware of the extent & the urgency to come up with a fix
2) allow Phil to send you the temporary fix ready for if/when you decide you want to install it
A first power cycle of ~ 2 minutes was not enough to clear it. I then shut it off for ~30 minutes, which cleared it. In the various re-starts during the upgrade process I did not see it at all.
I will definitely follow up with Phil!
Thanks Bart. I saw it 3 or 4 times during the change from 3.21 to 3.22, which prompted me to contact Phil, who told me the fix for 3.21 works with 3.22.
However, after the upgrade to 3.22 was completed I've only seen Fault 36 one more time (when switching input from UPnP to USB), so I have not (yet) applied the fix.
(Mind you, it's a bugger sitting listening to music with your fingers constantly crossed !)
Bart,
I also had the fault reappearing with n-stream 3.22 after it was fixed by a patch on version 3.21. The same fix applies to n-stream 3.22. Write to Phil Harris as suggested. He responds quickly and will give you all the information needed.
