Can't Play Unsupported File Format / Can't Play Skipped Track

Posted by: mykel18 on 28 November 2013

Hey guys need your help/advise. I have a My Book Live 1TB with the Twonky uPNP service and is working properly with my NDX. I recently got a My Book Live 3TB with a DLNA service (no Twonky in the settings) and I can't get it to play any of my files. Whenever I tried to play a file or album, it just will display Can't Play Unsupported File Format or Can't Play Skipped Track. I still have the 1TB and it plays well but the 3TB can't play any file. What could the problem be? Firmware of my NDX is also updated to current release. Appreciate any help I can get. Thanks in advance.

"DLNA" is a collection of protocols/services that uses UPnP to serve music. (I did not say that 100% accurately, but the point is that the "DLNA" server on your nas is indeed a UPnP server.)  My guess is that some setting(s) is/are not right on the server.  Once the server is running properly, your NDX should see it on the network.

Does the NDX see the server and just not play, or can it not see the new server at all?

I've downgraded the firmware to get the TwonkyMedia service again then updated to current firmware.  It's now working with my NDX. Guess the WD DLNA is not compatible with Naim.

What format is your music in? AIUI,  My Book Live only supports AAC, MP3, WAV and MPEG-4

My files are in FLAC, ALAC, AIFF, WAV format. My 1TB plays but the 3TB does not. Only difference is the 1TB has TwonkyMedia and the 3TB has WD DLNA.
