Who likes the new Likes?

Posted on: 04 December 2013 by JamieWednesday

Thought this forum was for grown ups. Butch blokes like. Don't want no poxy love hearts on the screen..

Seriously, what a joke. Naim take a look at yourself.

Posted on: 04 December 2013 by totemphile

I was thinking the same when I saw it just now, it's kids' stuff but even then it'd be more a girls' thing, than for boys. As it is, it's way too gay for a grown up hifi forum.

Get rid of it Naim, it sucks!

Posted on: 04 December 2013 by totemphile

And while you're at it Naim, can you please tell hopeless to put the grace period for editing posts back in place. Now you get the "Last edited by totemphile 1 second ago" even when changing things straight away. It's annoying!

+1 Jamie & totemphile

+2 to Naim take a look at yourself

What do they think they are playing at ???

Naim,  don't say it a Hopless feature - just tell 'em to dump it

This is forum does not want a best friends Facebook app for sub teens

Maybe I'm not the only grumpy old man on here after all. I totally agree, especially the namby pamby hearts. If we don't make a stand they'll probably colour them in pink next.

Just about got used to how messy the interface was and then they go and make it even worse!

Doesn't sit well with cool considered quality of the brand - have they had a focus group in and are looking to change their demographic!!! Don't think the spotty youth from Jeremy Kyle would be too interested in paying for quality sound!

Well, ever since I first noticed it I've been trying to find some way to disable it, but so far no dice.  Ho hum..

Well Steve if you click the like it does go PINK!!

Posted on: 04 December 2013 by Darke Bear

ok - if you click the 'Like' you can 'Un-Like' it! ....Bloody Excellent!

I like that you can un-like, but not that you can like.

....I'm still pondering the possibilities of un-liking things and people....

It can be sort of useful. Say you have a long thread you don't know yet, with conflicting point of views. You read the OP and some posts down, then you go to the most liked posts and read a bit around them, and you may quickly have a broad view of the sides and arguments. The truth might lie elsewhere (if there's any), but it can give an idea, at the very least about the sociological aspects of a particular forum at some point in time. It might even point to some interesting posts, if not the most interesting.

And then Hoopla can carry on and give access to some thread functions like: Go to most liked post or Highlight most liked posts, etc.

New Generation chaps, the frontier was not (yet) final.

What I don't like though, are these new flashy light blue headers...

If it is the likers, don't worry Steve, I do like you in a sort of man-huggy way !  Severed the contract with a certain person by the way ( talking of likes/ no like ) , you know who ........... ! ATB Peter

Dump the like button and bring back Views - like most normal forums - a much better indicator of a topic's interest.

(which would probably screw up hoopla's ranking scheme, not that that would matter)

Bollox. I liked that.

So the bike thread got pulled did it?

Posted on: 04 December 2013 by m0omo0

Perhaps Jan, but nothing about what's going on inside. Just saying. I won't complain about Richard's surgical removing of the hearts. A light-handed man he is.
