Thanks to NAIM for free download, but.....

A nice sampler available, but my computer won't allow the NAIM downloader to work. iMac/ Chrome , it says it's an non endorsed download. ??????????

H, In case you haven't got Naim's download manager installed yet (no problem here), you can just click on each track to download (as you might any free d/l) without using it at all.

Hope this kinda helps,

CC

I'm using the Naim down loader.

Seems to be downloading rather slowly.

19KB/sec

Strange. I wanted to order the "Best of British of Bryond " free album but I was prompted to make a payment!

Posted on: 04 December 2013 by KRM

60 kb/s for me, which I is slightly faster than used to get with dial up,

Indeed, the mp3 and cd versions are free, but the hi-res isn't.

Hi Guys.

Hope you enjoy the free album.

Those of you outside Europe may have been prompted to pay (!) this has now been fixed and it's now free worldwide!

Again, sorry about the download speeds, it's been very popular - and this has reduced download speeds the like of which I have never seen before.

@BigH47 - I think what you are describing is OS X being cautious about downloading third party software? You can change this in your system preferences. It is not an issue with the Naim DL Manager. Failing that, Chirpa is correct, you can a download in your web browser as standard.

For those who experienced slow download speeds last night, I tried this morning and it has risen from 10kb/s to over 700 kb/s.  Much will depend on demand so try to choose a less popular time.

I downloaded hi-res for free no problem.

On  a related note, I just download from Linn and the speed averages around 175,000kB/s. A single hi res track done in 3 secs.

Posted on: 05 December 2013 by osprey

Download speed 175 KB/s at the moment, so maybe it is a good idea indeed to wait for awhile.

Posted on: 05 December 2013 by DrMark

I am getting ~145 KB/s as well, but it was free (I chose a FLAC option)

And thanks to Naim for the free music!

Posted on: 05 December 2013 by ragman

Have had ~50 kb/s.

How ever, finally I got it for free.

THX to Naim

Simon has guided me, so I can now D/L the free album. It is slow but he says there is high demand.

So NAIM must be doing some thing right?

Of course free is a very good price even in this weird "doing well" world our chancellor seems to live in.

I don't know who chose the tracks, I think this is the best compilation Naim has put together. Very enjoyable and free, great.

Has anyone else noticed that the track listing in the pdf booklet doesn't match the tracks included in the download?

Posted on: 05 December 2013 by Wiltshireman

I will try another time as at the rate I am being shown it will take around 6 hours to do all 12 tracks. If this is at all a normal time then I will stick to my cd player and never bother with streaming ever for at the age of 61 I simply do not have enough life left. But thanks to Naim for the chance to listen to something new even if I might never be able to.

Give it a try first thing in the morning.  Last night I was getting as low as 10kb/s but first thing this morning it was well over 700kb/s and the hi-res FLAC files downloaded in just a few minutes.

Posted on: 05 December 2013 by bishopla

700kb/s FLAC, thanks NAIM

Due to overwhelming demand we've had to disable the CD Quality and HD versions of Best Of British and Beyond. We apologise for any disappointment. We have rebooted the album in MP3 only unfortunately.

For those of you who had to endure dial up speeds, thank you for your patience. For those of you who missed out, we can only apologise!

Those who subscribe to our mailing list will know that we have ANOTHER Christmas treat. Please apply NAIMXMAS2013 at shopping cart @ naimlabel.com for 30% off ALL music! Shipping is also free worldwide (on 5 items or less). So I hope you can forgive us?

Happy listening and season's greetings.

Do we know when hi res flac will be back? I made the mistake of experimenting with WAV which the Userve sees as thirteen albums with the same name that don't have artwork.

It would be nice to complete my download that failed half way through!

Maybe Naim should consider holding the music on a service like Amazons S3 which would have the bandwidth required to cope with demand when a mailing is done to their whole customer base.

Agreed Richard. I just ran out of time the other evening downloading (horrendous speed of download). Sleep was eventually necessary. I'm sure it happened to many. Now, Simon says no CD quality from now on - only pathetic MP3,

Bad, bad show. I shouldn't complain (this is provided free - well done Naim) but it isn't really very professional.."Overwhelming demand' is no excuse ..................

What a disappointment. Downloading from Linn is in comparison, zippy fast.

Posted on: 07 December 2013 by Wiltshireman

I eventually managed to get 10 tracks in WAV form so downloaded them again in mp3 so I can have a listen on my Nano in the week. Have tried to write the 10 tracks to cd but only managed to get a load of hiss and garbage. Surely this is not a fault my end but if it is can anyone confirm that or are the 10 files damaged in some way and so are not any good. All the tracks do seem to play on my Mac ok.

Not any good to me though, I use only a CD player and they have no WAV facility and to top it all its not much use as far as I can see as the one track I can dowload is todays offering ONLY and it was only 2.3 minutes long! Pointless? I think so, at least Naim's offering makes is at least worth all the effort!
