Surely this is not a fault my end but if it is can anyone confirm that or are the 10 files damaged in some way and so are not any good. All the tracks do seem to play on my Mac ok.

Assuming you already have the songs in a playlist, and have clicked on Burn Playlist to Disc, in Burn Settings ensure the Disc Format is "Audio CD" (not "MP3 CD" or "Data CD"). This rips a copy in whatever format the files are in (WAV, ALAC, MP3, etc) and should be playable on your CD player.

Not any good to me though, I use only a CD player and they have no WAV facility and to top it all its not much use as far as I can see as the one track I can dowload is todays offering ONLY and it was only 2.3 minutes long! Pointless? I think so, at least Naim's offering makes is at least worth all the effort!

I wouldn't say pointless. In fact the opposite.

Allowing people to download more than a dozen high resolution tracks at a time has obviously overloaded and virtually blocked Naim's download facility. I managed to download 12 track on Thursday, started at 4pm stopped the download at 11pm. 7 HOURS

Linn's idea of making available one track per day doesn't overload their system. I can download a high resolution track in about 20 SECONDS

Agree with you that having an album available for download is more useful than one each day. My point is about bandwidth. I have purchased hi res downloads from linn and naim before and it is clear Linn has a lot more bandwidth. Not surprising considering Linn is earlier in this game and has a much bigger catalog.

Has anyone taken an advantage of this yet? In case you have, what did you order?

For those of you who had to endure dial up speeds, thank you for your patience. For those of you who missed out, we can only apologise!

Just to be the devils advocate, why offer it as MP3 at all when the Naim philosophy is to strive for audio excellence? Plus, Naim's customers are also striving for the exact same thing. What with the 'fight' or campaign to get people to listen to decent quality audio. I wonder what the band think about Naim offering it at such low quality? I suspect the answer would be that any offering is good as long as they get exposure...then we are back to square one. I have not looked yet, but is Naim label also offering MP3 quality audio?

It just seems 'at odds' with where we all sit. I get offering it as CD quality and beyond, but surely Naim should be striving to get this streaming at the highest quality possible. If there are technical faults, they should be rectified ASAP And let customers get downloading decent quality files Again.

I missed the boat on this as I was waiting for all the dust to settle, but I don't think I will bother with an MP3 version.

Jason.

p.s. humbug!

This is where naim radio comes into it own, able to listen to tracks and if they appeal buy the album. I will be getting the Fitzimons  remixed album, sounds prety cool remixed. Listen to naim radio and wright down which appeals.

With reference to my post above.

It seems both Naim and Linn offer MP3 quality formats on their labels, but Bowers and Wilkins only go down to CD quality.

I don't know the tech details or significance of this particularly, but would it not be cheaper to only offer a limited choice for quality files. In other words, is it not costing Naim and Linn more to provide MP3's for every song recorded?

Surely if one has a reputation for high quality music replay systems costing upwards of £100,000 and you allow customers to download MP3's of all your music on your label, what does this say?

Perhaps I should just chill!

The record label will have different objectives. The artists on the label will want their music to have wide distribution which must include mp3.

Says he who managed to get the complete download in high resolution.

I will wait for my son to come up next week and ask him to see if I am doing something wrong, he is a sound designer and having macs for his work he will know. As to being pointless I think a track that last only a couple of minutes is a pointless gift at least Naims version is whole album full! And not being able to download any previous tracks is no gift either. What about folk who are away and getting home they find they have missed out? Is that not pointless? There should be someway in back tracking! Yes it is all free but I will stick to buying cd's and samplers in the future as really can see no point in a mp3 version. I was looking forward to a listen on my system NOT on a mp3 player! For me all is not lost as I may still be able to but I do feel sorry for those that won't be able to.

Due to overwhelming demand we have disabled the CD Quality and Hi Def versions.

What a shame, but understandable under the circumstances. But really don't see the point of downloading this unless it is either CD or Hi Def version.

Why don't Naim release the individual tracks daily (like Linn are doing) and then hopefully their system wouldn't be overloaded ?

Coming late to this party however I have to agree- no point in bothering with the MP3 version. Sorry to say it however a company which sells hi res playback devices should make hi res files available.

Instead of giving up -  rectify the problem and make this available again

Just my opinion as a Naim owner

The last people we want to disappoint are you guys. So here is a link to download the 24 bit 48kHz FLAC files (as this was the most popular format by far) from our Dropbox for anyone who didn't get the album in time.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/celp...britishandbeyond.zip

I'll leave this up for the rest of this week - all being well!

I'd be grateful if you could refrain from sharing this link externally. If necessary please point people towards Naim's forum. Let's see if we can try not to break any websites, servers, banks or customer relationships with this one!

[Richard, please make an exception on forum rules for external linking on this one]
