Desktop alternative to n-stream ?
Posted by: engjoo on 04 December 2013
Apologies if this has been asked before.
Is there an alternative to n-stream which can be operated from a desktop PC/notebook connect to the same network ?
There is no desktop alternative available to n-Stream at the moment I am afraid.
Yes - QuteControl for Mac, Namote for Windows and Android.

Do these offer same functionalities as n-Stream (incl. volume & UPnP control, iRadio listings etc.)?
I found that foobar do have a upnp plug in. Will check that out too.

And Media Monkey.
Please let us know how you get on because I am very interested.
Kinsky. It works, kinda.

Yes. Not quite as rich, but not too far off.
Kinsky and generic UPNP controllers will handle UPNP browsing and in some cases volume, but won't have a clue about Naim specifics like source switching.
Namote handles volume and source switching (but not UPNP control).
QuteControl does the lot.

Ok, good to know, some of these might be useful one day, although I (maybe wrongly) understood that the OP was looking a solution with all the same functions n-Stream has.
