Unitiqute2; Selecting tracks using USB tracks
Posted by: JSH on 06 December 2013
Is it possible to select tracks (files) from the USB input on a Unitiqute2, like it is from the UpNP source (Play Next, Queue Last etc)?
if not, why not?

Should be, with n-Stream
Have you tried?
No, you can't do it in n-Stream ( or at least I can't and I have the latest incarnation of n-Stream) which is why I posted in the first place!
If you mange it, let me know what I need to do to get it to work
Can no-one help with this? I can't believe I'm the first to encounter it. Is there a setting to change or is this really another n-Stream deficiency
NDS here. sStream works fine for navigating USB sticks plugged in the front. Looks ugly but works fine.
Sounds like the UQ2 won't do it with nStream. I assume you have called up USB from the bottom right menu and checked that your pre hasn't jumped inputs? Mine does. I really must get round to addressing this but I use USB drives infrequently.
Thanks. Interesting there's not a problem with NDS.
I'll have a go with the settings and see if anything changes, but so far no luck
Sorry I can't formulate a specific response but if it's possible with the HDS, I do wonder if somehow.....
I'll try when I'm home this evening. I do recall that with a stick in the Qute2, the list of tracks all show up in n-Serve. Have to click Settings, then pick the USB as the source.
Thanks.
Yes, that's where I get to.
Through n-Stream, I can see the files and all the tracks and play all the tracks through sequentially or from a starting point some way in. But it is not possible, as far I can see, to select say, tracks 4-6 only or 4,6,8 as you can with a UpNP source by pressing the track and using Queue Next. Nor is it possible to set up a playlist through n-Stream
It seems some functionality is missing. Or I do not have my UQ2 or n- Stream set up properly
Thanks.

This is pretty much how it works for me also. However, I use the old app and not the latest FW so I thought it's due to that. Do you have latest versions installed? If yes, I guess this is how USB playback has been designed to work.
Just double checked it here too. Basic functionality but the songs play fine. It's a facility I'm glad to have. The streamers are optimised for uPnP so I guess this is not surprising. Plugging a stick into my HDX gives a richer presentation in nServe. I guess that's because the server can interrogate and index the source better, before handing it over for Ethernet playback.
Unhappy though you are with the functionality, it does not sound like you're missing anything the rest of us have.
Thanks to everyone for testing this out. Like Harry I find the sound from the stick a little better but only from 24-172 04 24-192 files, I suspect because the flow is a bit less jittery on my system (though it could be placebo!!)
I think the playback, track choice option from USB is one Naim ought to give us. It can surely only be inserting a sub-routine into n-Stream so I will take it up with them. I have the latest n-Stream and firmware so hopefully they will be able to introduce in a forthcoming upgrade
