Band On The Run by Wings Which Copy

Posted by: HiFiKid on 07 December 2013

All

Just been playing my original copy of Band on the run on vinyl,  musically excellent but my copy has seen better days,  It is very crackly and poppy with some distortion to the treble. I have cleaned it but improvement is minimal if any.

I would like to replace this album on vinyl or cd I don't mind.

Have any of bought new copies of either cd or vinyl and what was the sound quality like.

Thanks

Try and find a decent early original vinyl pressing. This can't be bettered by anything else and aren't expensive to buy. I was in the same boat and picked up a 1st press at my market record stall for about a tenner. I guarantee that if you buy anything else you'll end up going back to your worn out copy.

Coincidentally the LP was released 40 years ago to the day in the UK.

I have various vinyl and digital copies My US Apple vinyl (original release) was mastered by Capitol. It sounds very good. Equal or better is the 25th anniversary 2 CD box set from1999, and you can still find it new on the web. I have not heard any of the recent remasters.

Hi Steve

I might just do that,  Whatever happens I won't be going back to my worn out version.

I have 2 copies one that is mine and one is the wife's which we had before we got married 33 years ago.

These were originally used on cheap autochange turntables

They are both awful

Thanks

I have the 24 bit 192khz no compression version.   Surely this would have to be the definitive version now.  Either that or vinyl, but I'm not that into this album .......and I have the download which isn't worn out. ( that reminds me, time to back up the hard drive)
