music stops after first track using nStream (new user)

I have the following issue on my brand new unitilite. when playing music under the UPnP protocol activated via nStream (whether from an iPhone or iPad), the music almost always stop after one track, forcing me to re-activate to play the next one. I don't have that issue when activating UPnP with the Naim remote. Which leads me to believe this issue is not related to our NAS (QNAP TS212, hard wired into the router), and that the issue is somehow related to how nStream interpret the information it is getting from the NAS, whereas when using the remote, Unitilite does not encounter that issue.

the unitilite is brand new, and the nStream was downloaded last week. So I suppose my systems are all up to date.

What exactly are selecting in nStream?  I assume you are not doing something silly such as selecting 'play this track'?  You should be selecting the 'play' bit in the top line of the album bit, or alternatively 'play from this this track' if you have first selected a track.  If not that, I have no ideas to offer ATM.

I know how to read Play option on nStreama and I tried them all, Play, Play from this track , etc. Obviously my query is motivated by those two options playing only one track.

Can you help me or not?

As suggested in your other 2 threads you need to get your dealer round and don't let him/her go until the whole system is working to your satisfaction. Dealer margins are generous enough - it's your right not a favour. Hopefully your dealer is not one of those who is happy to sell Naim products that he doesn't have a clue about getting to work properly.

A couple of weeks ago I went with a friend to audition a Naim streamer at a long established main dealer. If I hadn't been there the dem would have been a disaster - for example when the dem model failed to work (this after waiting half an hour after the appointed time for the dem system to be wired up) a new one was taken from the box. The salesman then failed to connect it to the network as he didn't know the password (in fact he didn't even know he needed a password!). If I hadn't brought along some music on a USB stick (the salesman couldn't manage that either) the dem would have been ended before it started.

I had this problem a few months back with my NDS/Unitiserve combo. It was fixed by either rebooting the Userve or my NAS can't remember which. Hope this helps.

A lot of playback behaviors are attributed to the upnp server. This happened to me before too. Can you check if within that folder you are trying to play, there is a subfolder. If there is, remove it and try again.

Yes assuming the tracks are in your current playlist once selected Nstream will load into your network player. If playback stops it means probably an error has occurred when the network player has asked the upnp server to stream the media. The media location and reference Nstream uses is totally provided by the upnp server.

If your upnp server index database has got out of sync with the NAS file locations, playback will not be possible and will stop.

Therefore I agree it's most likely your upnp server/NAS. Try a different upnp server to see if things improve.

Hi Simon
One way to test the hypothesis that the upnp / nas is at fault here was to simply to use the naim remote (as opposed to nStream) to play albums via UPnP off the same server. I did that, many times, the albums were played in full each time. So logic dictates that there is no fault with the NAS, but either in the way nStream interprets data streamed from the NAS or in the way the unitilite communicates with nStream
