Internet radio messed up again?

Posted by: Pev on 09 December 2013

When I tried to change stations all I can get is "empty" on the Internet Radio screen and now it's stuck there. Radio Paradise is still playing but I can't get back to the now playing screen. Needless to say, my sub £200 Logitech box in the kitchen is working perfectly with IR. Is it just me or has that sorry excuse for a service run by Vtuner fouled up again?

Seems to be working just fine here. Have you tried the normal cure methods i.e. switch off / on the unit and/or reconnect to the network?

Not yet - I've missed the programme I wanted to hear on Radio 4 now and don't want to lose Radio Paradise which is still playing even though the screen is frozen so I'll try switching off later.

Thanks for the feedback though.

I have a problem with vTuner too, but using nServe on HDX.  I think vTuner itself is the problem.  All my preset radio stations have gone.  The presets list is blank. If I try to add any it tells me my preset list is full!  The radio itself still streams fine though, I just have to find the stations another way.  Tried restarting etc..makes no difference.

My list of stations did reappear after I switched it off and on. This sort of thing happens far too often - I shouldn't have to listen to my cheap but reliable kitchen radio because my main system throws a wobbly. I leave my SU switched on all the time and it's wired via a switch to a rock solid network and has a fixed IP address yet it's a lottery when I press Iradio whether the music starts in seconds or whether you get "Input initialising" "connecting" or "press play to try again".

OK, it's fine 99% of the time but that's not good enough!

From my own experience the input initialising and connecting nuances are linked to the broadband internet provider, especially if their backbone has problems with DNS resolution (which is often the case, by the way).

In the last 3 years I have never experienced a true vTuner or iRadio outage as such and I am located overseas - which may support my hypothesis.

Make sure you have the latest Firmware installed though!

Cheers
