UnitiServe logo won't stop flashing on startup

Posted by: The Meerkat on 09 December 2013

I attempted to shutdown the UnitiServe in the correct way, by touching the front logo. However, holding my finger on the logo did not make it flash on this occasion, even after numerous attempts. So the only way to power it off, was to switch it off at the back and detatch the power cable. I appreciate that this not the correct way to power it down, but touching the front logo failed to shut it down.

I left it off for ten minutes, then switched it back on, but now the front logo won't stop flashing. It looks like it's broken, unless anyone has a quick fix. (It was working perfectly two hours previously, when I ripped some new CDs.)

Anyone able to help please?

This is a known hardware fault requiring (as far as I know) a trip back to Salisbury

A friend of mine had this same a similar problem.  Suggest you call Naim.

Of course, it could just be a networking problem... have you power cycled your router yet?  If not, try that (then call Naim).

Hi Roger

Yes, I have read the posts on this subject. We'll since your reply, I switched it off again and unplugged the power cable. It is now working properly, and even allows me to shut it down by touching the logo. My unit has been back to Salisbury on a previous occasion for a software fault, so I guess I'm going to have to see how it goes.

The UnitiServe is a fantastic piece of kit, but it's incredibly unreliable. They appear to have various hardware problems, including the power supply.

Mine has done the same thing. After a re-boot it wouldn't stop flashing. Tried numerous attempts at turning off waiting, starting again, turning off removing power cable, waiting and turning off again. The only difference between mine and yours is that I could shut it down via the front panel. Seems like it got stuck in a bot loop. Also tried an alternative power cable at my dealers with same result.

Mine had been doing some strange things like getting to 24 days up time and then going negative and counting back. Not looking up CD's with the AMG database but going directly to Freedb and has a rock solid internet connection as I was listening to radio paradise at the time. Also when looking up a CD would bring back the incorrect info, i.e. shadows and light by Joni Mitchell, kept telling me that it was a completely different CD and also not recognizing Reflektor by Arcade Fire, kept saying it was unknown but that was a new release and might not have been on the lookup database.

I do miss my unitiserve tho...

Timbo

I spoke too soon! I just ripped another couple of CDs, then on the last one it stopped ripping halfway through the album, and would not eject the disc. I finally managed to get the disc out by pushing a paper clip in the hole back and forth, to ease the disc out. I inserted another disc, but now it won't rip at all, or eject the disc.

The N-Serve app now says no servers found, and again it won't allow me to shut it down using the logo. The unit is definitely broken.

Timbo...P.S.

I meant to ask, is your UnitiServe at Salisbury, or have you given up on it and got something else?
