N-stream fails to connect
Posted by: Annick on 22 December 2013
N-stream is loaded to our ipads and repeatedly refuses to recognise superunity. We are using ios7.
we have to shut off main power to the superunity to reset it in order to be seen by n-stream. Both units were recently updated with latest software.
Sounds like a network issue. Please can you provide a bit more information. How is your SuperUniti connected to your network? Wired or wireless?
And apologies if this is stating the obvious but your iPads need to be connected to the same network the SU is on.
If you can provide some more information then I'm sure the forum users can help.
Also worth checking in nStream - Settings menu the IP address of the SU that nStream is connected to, and is this the same as the IP address of the SU when you look at the Settings menu on the SU.
Have you fixed the IP address of the SU? If not, do so, and see if it makes a difference.
How do you set the IP address on the superuniti?
What router are you using?
Mine is the Hitachi KM12VC. It can be used as a fixed-base or plunge router, with or without an IP address
Looks like the wine is flowing already!!

Oooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh...
That's bad! :hehe:

Can you let us know what make and model of router you are using on your network?
It may be that your router is not enabling the autodiscovery from iOS to take place correctly - this is an issue with some routers such as the Virgin SuperHub and has also been seen on a small number of BT HomeHub.
In this case it may be a solution to set a Static IP address on your SuperUniti (outside your routers DHCP range) and turn off the autodiscovery on the app which will allow you to then manually enter the IP address of your SuperUniti directly into the app.

The router is a dlink. We were able to change the ip address on the superuniti but we still can't see the NAS and it's content.

Thanks - this query however is very different to the one that I replied to above although it might not appear to be at first glance.
Your original question was relating to the iOS app not "seeing" your SuperUniti but now you're saying that it doesn't see the NAS and its content which is quite a different issue so can we try a few things to gauge exactly where we are.
If you pick up the IR remote and select the UPnP input on your SuperUniti then does it give you a list of UPnP servers or does it say "No Servers" (or similar)?
Do you know if you have set up the UPnP server on your NAS? Are you definitely running a UPnP server on your network?
Can your SuperUniti access Internet Radio when controlled via the IR remote?
When you run up n-Stream on your iOS device does it say "Streamer not responding" or does it give you a different message?
Cheers

Yes the iradio works very well. UPNP sees Twonky on my computer but does not see the NAS. Yesterday I shut the superuniti and when rebooted, UPNP detected the NAS but it was short lived.
Sometimes it will say no servers but most of the time it does not even show the NAS.
It sounds like the issue might therefore be with the UPnP server on your NAS if you're able to see the UPnP server running on your PC but (intermittently) not your NAS...

It sounds like you have a upnp conflict.
ideally get all your music onto the nas, then swich on the nases upnp server. Turn the one on your pc off.
There should be no problem having multiple UPnP servers on a network ...
