What TRACK are you listening to and why might anyone be interested? Alternative version.

Sorry, I think the other thread has lost its mojo so suggest new rules. Here we have tracks / singles.

Classical, soul, rock, blues, hip-hop......whatever. These must link to you tube, soundcloud or other streaming media so people can listen instantly. To do that, use the film reel icon above in the same way as images.

Taking the lid off the jam jar, I love the 12" of Fabian's Prophecy. A tune which has brought so many people so many good times:

Love the Chopin Waltzes as played by Dinu Lipatti. For example this one with a sense of foreboding in the intro:

Apparently not, unless MP3s are the new rage here. We'll see.

When sat at a computer I listen to nothing but MP3. Usually stuff on on Youtube.

An artist that plays like Robin Trower, sings like James Dewar.

What has linking to streamed tracks got to do with MP3? This thread is about hearing specific pieces of music that people choose to post rather than clicking through a gazillion pictures of album covers. It is more about the music and less about individual record collections.

Most of these tracks are on at least one album each plus EP's, singles. If you wanted to burn a copy you could do so to WAV, FLAC or MP3. Also many shops now offer downloads of WAV's and FLAC's for albums and tracks.

I think an issue with the other thread is that it is often interminable pictures of people's album collections rather than any real engagement with the music so it has become a bit staid. There are also only so many Best of Cat Stevens and Madonna links one can take!

Furthermore, on albums there are often only 2-3 tracks we really like so these can be highlighted. Streaming links also offer the chance to show a live performance (where they include video). A lot of acts, old and new, only put out singles for some reason or other. Finally, a streaming link offers an opportunity to hear the music in question immediately. That makes the thread more engaging in my view. Each to their own though

Like the Gary Clark Jr link. Seeing it was on Later brought to mind this powerful performance by Mary J Blige. There is an intro from Trevor Nelson which is very good but can be skipped through:

Also a live version:

Larry Jon Wilson - starts about a minute in. The recorded version found on Country Soul Revue is wonderful.

MM,

Looks like you're getting a lot of responses going now for tracks . Congrats.

I'm an old LP guy and I still listen to an entire album at a time, so it has to be a pretty good one. Maybe that's why you see the some LP covers repeated often on the other thread. To each his own. Best Wishes here with tracks!

See you on the flip side.

Winter Journey.

I'll be digging the LP out later, I need cheering up.

Some good stuff there FC and BH. Unsure if we will attract any other converts to the dark side / immediacy of streaming. If I am honest, I would not have followed up on the Schubert on the other thread (mainly an issue of time but also being stuck in ways) but a quick click on it has shown me it is something I want to listen through properly.

Greg, fixed for you below - I found a live recording. Thanks for a great recommendation too - real visceral delivery - will definitely look out for some more from Barrence.
