UnitiServe SSD Perpetual Rebooting

Posted by: KaffEric on 06 January 2014

Hi

I need help! I have a Unitiserve SSD that I have lived happily with fot two years.

Before christmas i noticed that it started to drop web radio streams very often. Sometimes after just a minute. I compared to a Sonos device and that one did not drop the stream. After some days I  noticed that the front panel logo on the UnitiServe SSD sometimes started blinking for a while.

Lately I have had problems ripping CDs. The UnitiServe SSD went offline while ripping but the CDs were uploaded to my NAS so I did not pay much attention to that.

Then I figured I might need to upgrade the firmware tot solve the issues. I was running 1.6b but was not able to upgrade to 1.6d. It looked like the UnitiServe SSD was working on the firmware CD that I have burnt myself. I tried burn in the firmware upgrade cds on various speeds on three different computers, all windows laptops or apple imac. but from what I have read on forums about failed cd burns the UnitiServe should just spit them out quite soon. My UnitiServe work on the cd for a couple of minutes before rebooting and spitting out the cd again. But the UnitiServe SSD still say it is version 1.6b.

Now my UnitiServe SSD have become worse over the days and today I cannot access it from desktop client or web interface any longer and the front panel logo is constantly blinking.

When I connect the UnitiServe SSD over composite signal to my TV it is repeatedly showing "Verifying DMI Pool Data... Update Success". Sometimes showing the Naim logo CD image on the TV then dropping the composite signal and going back to "Verifying DMI Pool Data ...".

Sometimes it does not show "Update Success" before dropping composite signal and restarting.

How can I bring my UnitiServe SSD back to life?

Is it just software that is corrupt or could it be something else, for example the power supply is out of order and unable to supply enough current so the device restarts?
