Best Albums of 2014... So Far!

Although a little early in the  year this one seems to have a good following on the net  and on this  very forum.

It's on order.

Arve Henriksen - Cosmic Creation (due to show up 17th Jan - big thanks to Lontano for recommending me some Arve a while back)

and, at last

Actress - Ghettoville

(Probably best to read this press release with an insouciant half-smirk, as he's not quite this intense...)

Ghettoville is the bleached out and black tinted conclusion of the Actress image.

Where the demands of writing caught the artist slumped and reclined, devoid of any soul, acutely aware of the simulated prism that required breakout.

Four albums in and the notes and compositions no longer contain decipherable language.

The scripts now carry tears, the world has returned to a flattened state, and out through that window, the birds look back into the cage they once inhabited.

Spitting flames behind a white wall of silence.

The machines have turned to stone, data reads like an obituary to its user.

A fix is no longer a release, it's a brittle curse. Zero satisfaction, no teeth, pseudo artists running rampant, but the path continues.

R.I.P Music 2014.

Actress

So cool he follows Farrow & Ball on Twitter.

Hey Adrian, I've ordered the 2CD version - I still haven't heard Chron (no Solidification here) so two new albums for me, 'both showing a part of Arve that is possibly most comparable to his work in Supersilent', according to his website - sounds good to me.

Yes, Chron is not so melodic, more Supersilent for sure......

Kevin, and the same to you. I saw you had found it  - I am looking forward to it. Good that he is releasing so much stuff at the moment - Chrom, PofW and Cosmic all in short succession :-)

Tony,

Was it still available on Amazon when you put your order in? It was sold out 2 days ago when I looked. I'd buy it from Other Sellers if it was as it's a limited run of only 750 so it may not come back in. I ordered mine back in November and it's a very good album.

Steve,

I received an email from Amazon this afternoon with estimated delivery date 23-25 January. Heaven knows what I am going to get in the post but I doubt it's  one of the 750  limited editions.

Fingers crossed!

Hi Tony.

Just to let you know I ordered  the Miller Anderson album last week, after Dr Blues had posted a good review. When I placed the order Amazon said that it was no longer in stock and could not give me a date for a future delivery. However, got notification this morning that my order has now been dispatched today. Hoping it is one of the editions on blue vinyl. Good luck with your order.

Graham.

The product description is for Limited Edition Blue vinyl numbered up to 750.

So that's what you should get

But i'm wondering if they will press more later - unlimited on black vinyl,

it would be a good idea, it's a great album.

Debs

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you Tony, and Graham. The blue vinyl LP is very well pressed.

Great news. Mine should be here sometime next week. Enjoy it.

That's a result Graham. Not only on blue vinyl but 134. That's a lower number than the one Debs received. Perhaps Tony's will be lower numbered than mine at 35.  I hope you like it.

Steve.

Not had chance to play it yet, but any recommendation from the Dr of Blues is always a winner in my book   Thanks for the heads up.

Miller Anderson was a major player on the best albums of the Keef Hartley Band and wrote most of the tracks during his period with the band. On this new album he's backed by Chris Farlowe's band and there's a good old style feel to the sound.

Thanks for the heads-up on this one chaps, I'm a big fan of Miller Anderson. Duly ordered and MP3 downloaded for listening until it arrives.

I can thoroughly recommend "Chameleon" and his live album, "The Lizard Sings the Blues"
