Why has Adam Meredith stopped correcting wrong uses of apostrophes?

Posted by: Naimiac on 11 January 2014

It was one of my last innocent pleasures. Too bad.

So:

It's = it is.

Its = like mine, yours, his, hers, ours, their.

Sorry, it's the weekend and I didn't know whose a** to be a pain in.

I expect he got fed up. The wrong usage of the apostrophe seems to have proliferated on this forum recently, particularly when it comes to speakers  (Or speaker's as some would have it...)

Maybe hes' not here.

Probably busy remonstrating with a greengrocer.

I think if you'd asked:

"Why has Adam Meredith stopped correcting wrong uses of apostrophe's?"

He'd be here like a shot.

When he's back perhaps he can start correcting the idiots who use 'of' instead of 'have.

...and "dependant" when they really mean "dependent".

Well spotted Peter...without the glaring stare of Mr Meredith perhaps I have become less thorough

Absolutely right - and completely inexcusable.

Actually mortified would be fraught with understatement. You just cannot defend the underfenderble indefensible.

Chris,  you are a master of defending the indefensible.

Posted on: 11 January 2014 by Chris Dolan

I will never - ever - defend Robbie Savage

I will confess that I didn't know what a pleonasm was, but that's because I'm stupidly thick.

Well I was over forty before I learned about Onanism!

So I must be a late developer ...

What it is, or how to do it?

The internet will probably provide the answer! [And far more].

It would be very rude to describe the process in any detail here!
