Spent £700 saved £2300

Morning all, having recently upgraded my pre to 282 was afraid my sources were not up to the job especially the Sonos.  So after some musings I decided to order the W4S Sonos connect, sounds fantastic, like a low level grunge has gone.

Anyway as far as I remember this is as good as the NDX sounded on home demo (no power supplies) so very happy.  No more upgrades this year :-)

Great news!

I'm wondering about the W4S Sonos as I have just subscribed to QoBuz lossless service which is excellent.  I feed a standard ZP80 into an NDX digital input.

The Sonos isn't quite up to the NDX, but QoBuz and local files both fed through the Sonos sound the same to me. The prospect to lift the QoBuz service up to the level of the NDX is very tempting.

What makes me hesitate is the possibility the Naim will integrate QoBuz into their streamers.

How does the Sonos now compare with the CD player used as a transport via the nDAC?

Richard,

That's a tricky one, I love my CDP, but on the initial listen the streaming now seems more organic, more open, very very close (not quite) as to the sound of my vinyl.

Think I may (regretfully) have to lose the CDP now.  There are just layers of detail that were not there before.

Pleased to hear you have found satisfaction with a relatively low cost streaming option.

PS Thinking about replacing my NAP100 with NAP200.
