Internet Radio from Synology NAS to Naim NDX

Posted by: Bas1973 on 13 January 2014

Hi guys,

New to this forum so "hello all!". Really enjoying my new Naim NDX although I cannot yet use any n-stream functionality yet because I am on Adroid

That is why I use the Synology DS Audio Station software. Works a charm with the music collection on my NAS, but I have not yet been able to listen to Internet Radio from DS Audio through the Naim. Does anyone know what setting I perhaps have to alter to get this done? Whenever I try to tune in to a station, the NAIM seems to get some sort of input, but then drops it.

I am able to stream Internet Radio to my tablet however.....

My setup is:

Synology DS413, connected with an ethernet cable to my router, and the NAIM NDX, also connected with an ethernet cable to my router.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

I have never tried to stream internet radio from my nas, but I can try at home shortly and see if it works.  I did not know that Synology DS supported internet radio, but that's good that it does!

I have the same issue.  Using DS Audio it plays the internet radio via my iPad but refuses to do so via the Unitiqute.  I tried changing from WAV to MP3.  I get a pop up on the Qute's info screen saying Can't play this.

I could not get it to work last night -- just get a 'track skipped' message after it gives up connecting.  I did not spend a lot of time with it however.

You do have to specifically enable internet radio in the media server.  But that clearly was not my problem, as I did tick that box.

Very, very interested to hear if what OP is attempting can in fact be done, because my ND5SX plays iRadio beautifully except my 2 favorite stations... buffer under-runs on both (even though they are only 320k and other 320k stations play with no problems). And I'm planning to buy a Synology NAS to rip my 1000+ CDs collection. So if Synology could play those 2 iRadio stations to my ND5SX, it would be perfect.

The Synology music server app has a lot of internet radio stations listed.  I am not sure whether any that might not be listed can be added manually -- Ive just never checked for that functionality.

Sorry to reheat an old thread, but I still can't find the answer - can I play internet radio through ND5XS using Synology Media Server (with Internet Radio enabled in its Options second tab) rather than using ND5XS internal internet radio tuner?

In that case my interest is as limited as the speed Actually I have upgraded my DS214play operating system recently, and haven't checked streaming iRadio since then, maybe the new version of Multimedia Server can do it?

Anyway, not worth my time if its only 128kbps... Most of the stations I listen to have higher rates.

i'm using the DS114 with DSM 5.0, the stations i'm listenning are from jazzradio.com, at 256 kbps.

i've tryed everything to bring out the 256 from the synology but... no way.

so, now i'm listening to my radio's on the ndx and sending through mulltiroom to the uniti qute.

i hope i was helpfull for you.

Very helpful.

It's Synology who are not helpful to audiophiles
