Tuner board for streamer (NDX)
Posted by: engjoo on 14 January 2014
Has anyone tried and compared the sound of a streamer with and without an FM board?
(Feeling annoyed with iRadio!)
FM sounds much better with the board in...

You omit to mention that DAB however is improved with the tuner board absent!

ok.. I don't supposed it come close as getting a NAT ?
I've had a NAT02, an n-Vi and an NDX with the DAB/FM cards in them.
Not surprisingly, the NAT02 was the best of the lot for FM, the NDX tuner card bettered the n-Vi version (lower noise floor on FM) and was surprisingly good. For casual FM listening it does the job very well and the added bonus of all the DAB channels worked very nicely for me.
Yes James spotted it, it is great for casual listening, as good as it is, it will be beaten by any NAT.
No experience with DAB, we do not have it in North America.
when I ordered my NDX, I ordered it with DAB/FM but due to some mixup the NDX delivered was without DAB/FM. So another had to be ordered during which time I used the NDX without DAB/FM. The correct NDX then arrived and I continued with that. I cannot say that I noticed any difference in sound quality between the NDX without DAB/FM tuner and the NDX with DAB/FM tuner.
As an aside I have a NAT01 with PST and quite frankly it blows the NDX FM tuner away.
