They say if they get a corner they do a lap of honour.
I gave up on them after the days of Charlton,Best, Stiles and Law.
I will post properly when I get back from Old Trafford.
Alas, no more Fergie time!!
Great to see their supporters far from happy. And lets face it most of them don't even come from Manchester. The real Manchester folk support City.

When Man u are playing at home most of the roads in leafy Surrey are empty.

I think the thread should be titled Man DisUnited.
Juan Mata move as reported from web site just now fro £37 million :
Sources close to the deal say that 25-year-old Juan Mata is now preparing himself for a medical ahead of the move

Therein tells the tale of success and failure in football. It's why Barca, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Man U etc have worldwide fan bases while Hull, Preston and Man C don't. This will probably change for Man C all because your new owners don't come from Manchester and are throwiing money at the club.
You could throw that kind of money at Accrington Stanley and make them something they're not too but I think most Stanley fans would be grounded enough to recognise their subsequent false position.
The owners of Liverpool and Man Utd are American. So what?

They weren't when Ferguson and Shankly landed there and turned them around. They were bought over once they'd gained success the hard way.
You could take a billion quid and throw it at any old team and turn it into something it never was.
Liverpool and United were lucky to be very successful in the '80s and '90s during a booming economic period for football throughout the world. This put them at a great financial advantage over clubs like City (I don't know why you mention Hull and Preston except to be derogatory) who didn't follow up their success of the '60s, just like Chelsea. They always had a very strong home fan base, even in the doldrum period of being relegated they were having home gates of 40 odd thousand. That rich owners are coming in is a fact of football life now. Man City and Chelsea are no different to the Man Utds and Liverpools who have their own billionaire owners.
What amazes me is Portsmouth, now down in league 2 and still getting gates of 15k +.
That to me shows true support.
I wonder if the nutty bookshop owner from petersfield still goes to every game, dressed like a total pratt ?

Play Up Pompey, Pompey Play Up (a song dating from the days when fans brought wooden rattles to games and the kids got passed down the terraces over the top of the crowd to the front where they could see.)
PUP PUP.
Should be...PUP PPU

Yikes, you're right! PUP PUP sounds better though.
Latest Man U joke - taking penalties (one out of five)
Last realistic chance of silverware for United gone for this year.

I disagree with the luck part. Ferguson took a nothing (in European terms) Scottish provincial club to the top in Scotland, dominating the old firm year after year, and in Europe defeating the mighty Real Madrid in the final then went on to win the Super Cup beating the European Cup holders. There was nothing lucky about Ferguson's ability. The same goes for Shankly.
You can win a cup with a fair bit of luck but winning titles takes more than that and winning the amount of titles those clubs did cannot simply be put down to luck.
I mentioned Hull and Preston as examples of clubs that do not have the domestic and international glamour of the other clubs I mentioned.
I disagree that Man City are no different. They are for the reason I gave. They required the input of billionaires to gain their successes and this could have been replicated at any club.
In my opinion, the arrival of a billionaire at a football club, who then spends fortunes of his own money on the club, over inflates that club from where it's natural position would be.
If that Sheik buggered off and no other billionaire stepped in, where do you think Citys level would be?
It would eventually settle back down to a level below that of Man U.
I've seen something similar up here to my ex team, Rangers. David Murray, the chairman and ex owner, spent money that he and the club did not have to win trophies. Specifically spending money the club did not generate. This in my opinion over inflated the team with players he knew it couldn't afford. That run of wins therefore is somewhat false. The club became something it wasn't in a sporting integrity sense during that era and the end result was my disenchantment with the game of football and the direction it was heading.
You state in your post.....Ex Team, why are they Ex ??
The saying is that during ones time on Planet earth you may change the school you go to,change the job you have, change the car you drive, change the house you live in,even change the wife(often a good idea) but you must NEVER change the team you support.
