what Blu-ray player software are you using?

I don't care if there is a Blu-ray drive built in or not for I already have an external one that didn't cost a fortune. What I would like is for Apple or some third party to release some proper software support for Blu-ray films, in particular those that have some form of protection in them. There's a few crap applications or work arounds, but I usually go to my Windows Partition to watch BluRays. Not that the apps there are great either, but they are years ahead of whats on OS X for Bluray playback.

We play Blu-rays on a Blu-ray player. You can get them for less than $100.

Apple doesn't like the degree to which the Blu-ray anti-copy system hijacks the underlying OS and firmware for the disc drives, so has refused to build Blu-ray capability into their machines. The third-party stuff is just a work-around, as you say. Apple might also be trying to point people to iTunes for content, rather than to the discs. They have a way to go with licensing of content before iTunes is one-stop shop, though.
