From the Message Boards... Dramatic increase in vinyl record sales...
Play? I detest the phrase "playing records". It is not a game. 180g is OK for kids, but my collection is original copies only, preserved in top quality PVC sleeves, and listened to - not "heard" or "played" - via my custom-built system only on the anniversary of their original UK release. - Music Man
Oh dear. People like you give serious record collectors a bad name. My Record Room has ambient lighting and no windows (sunlight is the enemy of vinyl). Mint condition discs are stored vertically in a humidor and all inspections are carried out using disposable gloves. Sleeves are kept apart from discs (to avoid indentation) in a closed cupboard (no faded spines) and separated by rice paper to prevent sticking. Air conditioning guards against lamination cracks on flip-back sleeves. As for PVC covers... well, a five-year-old knows the chemical damage they can cause. I don't own a hi-fi: styli damage grooves and turntable heat causes warping. We do at least agree on one point: records are not for playing. - PCS 3042

Does anyone else have a horrible feeling that at least one of PE's writers has been lurking on this forum?
