HDX - How to Delete all Music files from 1tb Internal Drive?

Posted by: GraemeH on 24 January 2014

Can't seem to work out how to clear the hard drive other than one album at a time.

Anyone help?

Thanks,

Graeme

G, using n-Serve for OS X, I can highlight multiple albums (hold down the Shift key) and then right-click and pick delete.

I've just had a look at DTC on PC.

Select Albums - so that all albums are showing in the right pane.

Highlight first album, Shift click on last.

Right click - Delete.

Obviously I didn't proceed with the right click!

You will then need to empty the Recycle Bin.

Steve H been very helpful, Thanks.....but I hadn't realised one crucial detail.

To stream files ripped from the HDX on a NAS to the ND5XS I need to convert the files on the NAS to FLAC from WAV as I'd already wiped the HDX drive.

Mild thrombosis setting in......

Recycle Bin?

Ask me how I know this!

if you are deleting everything is there a way to format the drive? Maybe someone with your product can shed some light on it.

Unfortunately I knew this too.....emptied the bin.

Steve thinks it's possible to redesignate my NAS file as a primary store and then allow the HDX to convert the files to FLAC and change it back to a share.......provided all the files on the NAS are HDX rips.

Will try that tomorrow. Right now listening to Paul Simon Live in New York hires on the new ND5XS:XP5XS (thanks Norman) and it's a peach!

I think that if you "format C:\" the hard drive on an HDX, you likely have created a very expensive paperweight.

Yes. That will be possible in the scenario you describe. And of course, you can also have multiple stores with a pecking order for ripping to.

Started the reformatting from WAV to FLAC on HDX - 9 days it says it will take - about 100 albums a day!

Why are you converting your WAV files to FLAC ?

Because the ND5XS will not read HDX WAV rips and I've moved to an ND5XS:XP5XS front end.

Strange. Oh well enjoy your converting.

Transcoding about 800 albums to mp3 copies took the HDX 6 days. But I didn't have to sit and watch it so it was fine.

G, my uServe did it much faster than its software predicted.  But I've got the newer 2tb hdd which may simply run faster than your drive.
