Show me your NAS!

Posted by: A. Lawson on 24 January 2014

I figure that we show pictures of everything else, why not these?

I run a Linux based computer with

Dualcore 2.4ghz Intel processor

2gb RAM

2x 4TB Seagate 7200rpm drives for music only RAID 1

1.5TB Western Digital for movies and TV shows

250gb Western Digital for random crap

120gb Seagate SSD for Operating system

4x 120mm fans and 1x 190mm fan up top. All run full blast all the time.

I'll add a picture tomorrow.

You did say picture of your nas, right?

'Show me your vacuum cleaner' would be much more interesting. I have a very nice Sebo. The NAS is simply a Synology 213j.

Could have been worse. Could've asked for a picture of the wife's nas.

Maybe a new title for the system pictures thread.

NAS - naim audio system

We have a rather handsome Kirby vacuum.

Wow Simon. Not only looks good but sucks as well. I won't suggest an alternate thread title for fear of moderation.

I'll give you a twofer.

A pair of proliants running OpenMediaVault.

Faster than most nases, needs a little set up but can be configured to run 16gig of ram, with expansion slots etc. Great little devices for the money

My home made NAS and SAN combination.

Based on SuperMicro, Xeon mobo and Norco chasis.

Free OmniOS that supports the superb ZFS filesystem with in-built error detection and correction and setup in RAID-5 groups.

3 x 12 cm fans between disc section and mobo section

2 x 12 cm fans exhaust from chassis.

Temp < 37 degrees.

All silent Noctua fans and virtually noise free.

Just the discs are humming on the background.

Plenty of space for extending capacity.

It's too big for Fraim I'm afraid

Similar to Garyi, only one HP NAS.

Tucked out of the way in the office. Trusty old NV+ with a headless Mac Mini as the iTunes server / Ripper.

and while we're at it...

Posted on: 25 January 2014 by A. Lawson

i think the Miele wins the vacuum round unless there are other takers

Posted on: 25 January 2014 by joerand

Mine's from 1990 and has a hose clamp and lots of duct (duck) tape on it. I'd be embarrassed to show it. I need to think about a Miele

I've got a Synology NAS tucked away in a cupboard not too far from the UnitiQute. I know some of you might not approve having it so close to the audio system. I've set it to the lowest fan setting when in use and it goes to sleep when not in use so I never hear it at all.

At some point I might run some network cable to the storage cupboard in the hall and put the NAS in there, but for the time being it's fine where it is. The USB drive next to it backs up the NAS once a day.

Nicely done Tom.

keeps your room tidy and in style.

My monster machine (resting on Ikea LACK table of perfect size for 19" racks) is upstairs in my office and connected via ethernet running through ducts in the house.

cheers

Have you ever considered putting your Naim boxes side by side?
