upnp control points for uniti - volume control

Posted by: Mrs Wogan's lemon drizzle cake on 26 January 2014

Hi all, i've been playing around with a couple of IOS apps as alternatives to n-stream in order to control my Uniti.  I've tried both media:connect, linns kinksy and DS Auidio.  While i can use all of these apps to select tracks and stream from my synology NAS, i have no control over volume, is this a known issue?

My goal is to find a nice usable IOS app to browse through my music collection which is near to iTunes cover flow in terms of a slick looking UI, but if it turns out that i can only control volume via the nstream app i guess i may have to stick with that.

Cheers,

Matt

Only nstream can control volume as its a proprietary part if the naim software which as far as i know is not actually upnp.

whats wrong with nstream?

Hi Matt

I don't use an iThingy but have an Android tablet. If I run upnPlay or BubbleUpnp then the volume buttons on the tablet control the volume on my Qute2 without a problem. Bubble can also mute and unmute it. Even Kinsky running on my Laptop allows me to control the volume (though it's far from slick). Give them a go they may work for the Apple stuff too.

In which case my apologise, I believed it was a protocol unique to the naim products

Hi Garyi

I believe the switching of inputs and radio selection, etc. is Naim specific there may even be some specific tweeks to volume control, etc. but I've generally found that Upnp software can perform basic volume control.

Thanks Sorren.

I've updated my system firmware and the n-stream app seems to be more resonsive now so i'll plug away with it.
