NDS has arrived

Actually it didn't yet, but I want to use this post to brief the forum on my experiences with my newly coming NDS. But while I am awaiting the new machine I have a question with regards to tagging / catalog etc. I am going to use DB Poweramp for the ripping to a QNAP NAS. What are the golden concrete tips for ensuring that you only have to do this process once, as I would like to avoid the mistakes other have already made in the learning process (it's a bit of a job to rip 3000+ CD's).

yeah you guys are more into this but getting my CDs now into my system and figuring out how it all works is time consuming.  I put chicken in the oven and have a drink and go thru my files and find correct image files and learned to edit metadata.  I'm so proud of myself.

Remember to take a walk and get away.

I have an ND5 with 555PS and I'm thinking in a month of getting the DR upgrade before the big change in the distributing.  From what I hear I don't need the NDS upgrade and buy more top vinyl. Trying to rip my CDs gets me to listen to things I don't remember or never listened to.  I was buying them but had such a problem before with iTunes I didn't bother ripping them.

there are problems tho, wrong jpg or genre, One Karajan Requiem was listed under pop....

Hi Mudwolf,

I am not clear how you would come to he conclusion that you wouldn't need an NDS - I think the whole thread has been a "love statement" to the musical side of the NDS. I would agree with you that the tagging, ripping etc is a burden. But it's a one off burden which I will get behind me in the next four weeks..... And then it will be only listening to music.

Cheers,

Bert

I thought I finally arrived at completing my ripping etc. And with a completion of 3300+ albums - this was quite a task..... However I just found out how I can also rip the audio tracks of my concert DVD's ... So I am now also on that task.........

The sound of the NDS by the way has further evolved and is really something special. So clearly recommended.

Bert,

That is really great to hear. I picked up a copy of 'DVD Audio Extractor' and it has done a nice job on my modest DVD-A collection.

I also like the Naim Audio HD downloads as well as the 'Society of Sound' subscription I have.
