Runtime msvcr80.dll program missing - Help!
Posted by: Tony2011 on 30 January 2014
I must have accidently deleted this program. Does anyone know or can recommend a good, safe link/place where I can download it from? It's a jungle out there on the net and any help would be most appreciated.
Many thanks,
Tony
Were you installing the semi-fatal itunes update? ? 1.1.4.62
I should have learned how useless iTunes can be - I got caught by the update two nights ago and was up to 3.00am.
My problem seems (I hardly use it any more) to have shaken out but the loss of the .dll seems to be common with this update.
I don't know if it works - try a System Restore. However - the advice on the web was to entirely uninstall everything itunes/apple, get the latest download and re-install.
Do a search and you may find the same sites I did.
Although your existing itunes' folder structure should retain playlists, ratings, etc - you'd be a fool not to copy the whole thing off to an external drive.
I think I've forgetfully updated Itunes 7 times - 2 earlier hiccups and one where I had to go through removing duplicates or missing file references,
Adam,
I've uninstalled all apple-related programs except icloud and reinstalled iTunes and that seems to have done the trick. I think I'll stick to WM for rip/play and only use itunes to transfer files to iphone. Pain in the 4rse! Thanks for your help.
Cheers,
Tony
Phew-not just me then!
I'm going to try a full uninstall and re-install as the update failed on mine

I had the same problem last weekend with the latest iTunes update. After giving-in and contacting Apple the solution is to unstall every Apple app and associated programs so you can do a clean install of the latest version. Here's the link:

Good luck
Have you tried turning it off and then back on again?

Mine loaded without a problem. I do keep a separate external Hard Drive with all the music backed up about once a fortnight, or when prompted to do it again.
I only have one software package on my Mini that is not with the original MAC Software package - iPhoto.
If mine went up the shute updating, I would go straight back to the MAC shop I bought it from for advice, because I know I am useless at computers.
It's a shame when things don't work properly. You have my sympathy when they don't as I know how frustrating it can be. I did have an issue last New Year, and the shop helped me, but actually ROTF/Guido Fawlkes had already given me the necessary advice here. But the shop did the actual icon clicking to fix it.
Best of luck with getting it sorted out.

An uninstall and re-install of iTunes worked for me. I'd got a bit panicky because it happened not long after I'd moved my iTunes library from my c: drive onto a portable drive! All seems okay now though.
Eventually got fed up with itunes. Gave my iPod to SWMBO. Synced my itunes library to Google Play and on a subsequent replacement of hard drive haven't re-installed itunes. Also set my daughters itunes to sync to my Google account so whenever she adds new music it magically appears.
Whenever a family member has itunes problems I respond that I can't possibly assist as I don't use it
Regards,
Willy.
This has seriously peed me off. Not the first time either. iTunes seem to update incessantly and not always easily
What other alternatives do people use? I have a few Podcasts I download every week and sometimes use iTunes connected to my Qute for music. I rip all my CD's to my PC for use on the iPod/Qute. These are on a NAS. I don't need iTunes for buying music.
Interested what others use.

A better solution is to uninstall it and install something better......
