Hi def download conversion

Hi. As a previous post states I'm looking at upgrading the system but sadly am unable to listen today but in preparation for possible upgrades I've taken the plunge with a nas. I've got a uniti without the 192 upgrade. If I download 192/24 tracks to the nas will they be downgraded to the maximum level the uniti can play from the nas to the uniti or do I have to choose lower res formats at the moment. I sure this is a stupid question but thanks in advance

IIRC they don't play. But you can downsample with something like dBpoweramp.

So I'd be better off with the potential for a future upgrade to download at 192/24 and save that for later and convert that file to a lower resolution for now?

I would do this. Assuming 192 will not play, which I believe is the case. Some say you might as well stick to 96 for all the difference (or lack of it). I'll go for the highest I can get if it sounds any good.

Depending on the server running on your NAS, you could easily transcode the 192 files to 96 on the fly.
adca
