Transcoding and Cover Art

Posted by: Daunt on 03 February 2014

Just a couple of questions from a Unitiserve newcomer.

I have read somewhere here about transcoding FLAC files (in the Downloads folder of Unitiserve) to WAV on the fly from the Unitisertve, which, it is said, improved audio quality. I assume all that is necessary to do this is to change the FLAC entry in Transcode Media Types, on the DTC from 'False' to 'True'. Can anyone confirm or otherwise please?

Secondly my modest collection of FLAC downloads has been transferred to the Downloads Folder on the Unitiserve. This consists of Artist folders with the Album folders inside, each containing a Jpeg file of the artwork. Most of these appear to be seen by the Unitiserve but some don't display at all - does anyone have any ideas about this and how to sort it out please.

Hi Daunt,

On your first question, "yes" -- just change the transcode setting.

As to why the art isn't showing up . . . the files are all named folder.jpg  ??  In n-Serve for OS X, there is a button to press to 'refresh' album art.  If the DTC has such a function, try it.  Otherwise just make sure that the files really are proper jpg's.

Is it a file size limitation? Sometimes if the image is too big it will not display?
