I didn't realise we had an olympian posting here. What sport are you competing in?

If it is set to music, it isn't a sport.

It isn't even a game. Sport is about hunting. Games are about athletic, or mind games such as chess or bridge, or something exercising ....

You are forgetting there are only 3 true sports, Motor racing, Mountaineering and Bull fighting, all others are merely games.

You're ALL wrong. There is only ONE sport, darts:

Motor racing is not sport, and nor is mountaineering, though killing bulls is. Sport is rightly more or is more or less banned  ...

One happy day for a very long time — I should have known better not to share it here.

That seems a bit negative. What do you have against White?

Nothing against Sean White personally. I just like to see the sport becoming more competitive and less dominated by a single athlete. It's well-known that White has sponsorship enough to supply him with his own private half-pipe that he is chauffeured to by helicopter. Seems a bit extreme to me, but I guess it's an extreme sport. I'm not knocking his ability to get the most for himself, just like to root for the underdog at times.

Yes. It's not cool to be Finnisht.

Indeed! Looks like a well-trained athlete appropriately conditioned for his event

I'm surprised not to see any accolades here for the British women winning bronze in curling. Maybe because it's actually the Scottish National team? Perhaps those on the fruit box forum are more enthralled?

Not me. I like to see the very best in the world dominate. Streaks, all-time records etc. If I want to see underdogs winning or close competition, I can go to the local sports-field and watch kids playing football.

Yeah, probably. But actually, you have every right to rejoice in others' achievements without me being sarcastic.

US women's ice hockey team with a pretty big choke, up 2-0 with under 2:30 left, and were tied with 54.6 seconds remaining in regulation, and lost it in sudden death OT.

DrMark,
Speaking of women's events, we've all have our own disappointments. Personally, I was sad to see the Russian women's curling team didn't go farther .....

Well the US men's ice hockey team gets shutout by Finland 5-0 for the bronze medal with another outstanding performance by Tuukka Rask & 2 goals from 43 year old Teemu Selanne...a true hockey legend and a better man than he even is a hockey player.  You can't find anyone who has anything but good to say about him.

The US team didn't score in the final 138 total minutes that they played, and took some real cheap frustration penalties in the third to kill any chances they had to come back in this game, and demonstrated again the myth of "American Exceptionalism."  (Did you hear that, Barack?)  They didn't even show up today after the first period.

Congratulations to Team Finland...and to you too osprey!  Enjoy the medal for your country.  You can be very proud of the performance of your team.  One has to wonder what might have been had Rask not been sick and unable to play against Sweden.

And to think, Teemu almost retired this year:

@DrMark thank you for your kind words. Teemu Selänne is indeed a phenomenon - 26 years in national team is a long time in any sports (and this among the other achievements).

Unfortunately the final proved to be a bit boring since the Canadians were so dominant.
