UnitiServe - Album recognition problem

Posted by: Sourav Mazumder on 07 February 2014

Any idea why Uniti-Serve shows multiple Albums (though actually it is a single album) when the album is tagged with different Artists for different tracks (though Album Artist tag is same for all the tracks) ?

Any work around to solve this problem ?

Sourav

I am guessing that these are not Unitiserve rips. Can you confirm?.

Yes you are right.

I have encountered this and use a tag editor, Tag & Rename, there are many others.You have to have the album field with the same album name on each track, artist field with the same artist name  and use the title to put the combined Artist +track name.

Hi Gerry,

Thanks for the details on the workaround.

But what I don't like is adding the artist names along with the track. That makes it very difficult to understand the track names while playing it through a streamer.

Most of the other servers support displaying Artist Names separate from the Track. Just wondering if someway that can be achievable in UnitiServe.

Hi Sourav,

Sorry don't think there's a way round that, Personally I do not find it a problem,as I can see the details for each track as I stream it. Just a bit of a nuisance having to do the editing.,

The only other solution I know of is to use the "various artists" designation in the Artist tag for each track.  But that's far from satisfying, too.

@Bart - True.

The main discomfort to me in this entire approach is displaying Track level artist name along with the track name. If I have a streamer which has small display (which is the case with most of the available streamers in the market including Naim Streamers even NDS) the Track display becomes almost non usable.

Just wondering what is the philosophy behind such design when all the popular tagging standards have defined separate tags for Artist Name, Album Artist and Track.

In digital music having right usability is second most important thing to me after sound quality.
