Uniti randomly becomes undiscoverable to n-stream

Posted by: Ptangyang on 08 February 2014

Hi

I've got the Uniti running audio from a QNAP. For a while after a restart it works fine, and then without reason will give dreaded 'streamer not responding'. Elsewhere on the forum its suggested that I turn off auto connection and manually enter IP address.

Can anyone please help me with the issue itself, or failing that let me know how I find what the IP address of my Uniti is (bit of a noob).

Thanks all

Neil

If you go into setup, and find network settings, you will find the IP address that the router is allocating. You can then go into the router and fix the uniti's IP address. You'll need to bind the IP to its MAC address, which you'll find in the router, buy finding the IP.  Pick something outside of the normal range: mine is 192.168.1.110.

hi

excuse my noobness, but can you talk me through that in a bit more detail please? i have found the IP addy of the naim, i've then found it listed on twonky sever - is this how i should be able to edit it? i cant delete or edit the numbers.

i'm assuming the mac address is the one that looks something like : 00:242:0f:67:BB?

thank you

Whats your router?

I would not worry about assigning a fixed IP to the uniti, thats not as important as the NAS where the music is coming from.

Never the less a decent router would negate all of this. If its a home hub, hame on you

I agree with Gary - fixing the IP address is really unlikely to make a difference - and possibly likely to cause more issues later.

The area I would look at is your QNAP UPnP server - it looks like it is that is not responding. Try a different UPnP server on a PC or Mac and see if that work ok. Also are you using a switch to connect your devices using wired connections to the Uniti?

Ahem well yes, shame face for me then - i am using a sky router, could that be the issue? If so whats a good replacement?

Having invested in the QNAP I'm not overjoyed at the prospect of switching unless absolutely necessary. Simon do you mean software or hardware? I'm currently using Twonky, again any recommendation would be great if you think that could be it.
