Holy crap!
Well...the background music wasn't too bad...
That's great, I'll clean a few every night when doing the dishes.
Actually, I'll just pop in the dishwasher after all.
But good on him for making a video anyway..
Sorry - someone has already thought of that...
After watching the youtube of folks cleaning LPs with wood glue, the washing method seems comparatively reasonable.
Probably don't want to try this method on your LP12.
There's a person on the Linn forum who swears by the glue method. He's in a minority of one. I did try this method in the '80s with an old record. Messy, still noisy after cleaning and loads of static.
I could see trying the glue method maybe once, just for kicks, and provided it was on a Michael Jackson record. But what stylus would anyone want to subject that record to?
In fairness the glue does come off cleanly and does remove a lot of grime but I know what you mean.
That's the closest to a barfing graemlin I could get! I shan't be buying any LPs from him! I couldn't finish it...

Steve, what abouit trying to use a piece of the "tacky mats" that are used in hospital clinical areas, to pull dirt off shoes before entering clean areas?
No thanks Cbr, my Keith Monks RCM works just fine.

Didn't know you have a KEITH MONKS, Steve?
I even have a new Keith Monks Omni RCM Tony.
Here's a picture,

Ok, now behave yourself and stop showing off!
Surely The Police need to be brought in on this one....
Surely that's a wind-up he even looks like Harry Enfield, I'm sure he shut the camera off and started giggling like a mischievous little boy!

A bit harsh, I think. Deep inside Steve is a nice guy.
Sorry, you were talking about the bloke at the top of the page.
Hope he's doing a demo at next weeks Hi Fi show, I'll take a couple of Steps albums for him to clean.
Thought I had read somewhere that when you purchase a Monks one of these comes with it .....
.... but only just to service the machine and keep it well polished.
been doing it wrong all this time. I can finally flog the VPI and get the kids to clean them for me before washing the pans. Kill two birds with one stone. sorted.
I enjoyed the film immensely!
This is exactly how LPs should be treated, Shortly before putting them in the bin.

This dangerously misleading buffoon should have said something about the quality of one's local water supply. Using domestically supplied water is plain daft anyway because of the impurities therein, and the type of very hard limescaley water hereabouts would really f**k up records!
John.

But not those treasured 78's, presumably George?
John.
Dear John,
I gave my last treasured 78s to Oxfam a few years ago.
Apparently they were worth a lot being a very rare lot of first issue Elgar conducted performances [1927 to 1932].
Sound-wise, the CD re-issues were much more lucid!

Not before they have been transcribed to CD I hope (particularly if the master tapes do not exist any more.
