EAC or DBPoweramp

Posted by: Bert Schurink on 14 February 2014

I just had a check up discussion with my dealer and he told me that Naim Owners often seem to favor DBPoweramp due to it's rounder tonality against EAC..... So far I have ripped on EAC. Any opinions of the forum members on this ?

So far I have used EAC. I've got no intention of going back a re-ripping all 700 CDs with DBPoweramp !

No tonal effects, dBPoweramp is just more convenient and has the possibility do many types of conversions.

if it rips data correct there is imo no tonal difference. I'm open to many causes for difference in SQ how unlikely some may seem, but not due to a ripper if the digital data at the end is the same.

cheers

Absolutely no difference in sound quality, wave data, sample bits etc they are completely identical as I have sampled, measured and analysed using specialist tools for the job several times. Would be wary of your dealer's advice unless he/she was misunderstood.

However I do find dBpoweramp easier and quicker to use and I like its meta data editing.

Hi,
I use both eac and db poweramp side by side.ripping the cd with eac to flac then using db power amp for tagging.works well for me.
