Where are playlists stored in nstream?

Posted by: pixies on 14 February 2014

Just had a few issues with nstream so considered deleting and reinstalling the app. However, I have built up a few playlists that I do not want to lose so have held off. But where are these playlists stored? Should I back them up and if so how? Alll my music is via flac files on synology NAS using LMS Server.

Hi pixies,
I am sure that simon in Suffolk has answered this for someone else on the forum but can't seem to find it.if memory serves me well I am sure that the playlists are stored on the apple device,iPad,iPod or phone.hopefully simon can confirm.

Hi, Nstream stores the playlist on the iOS device (iPad, iPhone, iPod). You can save copies of these playlists for back up and restore quite easily.

To do so, connect the the iOS device to a Mac or PC running iTunes, select the iOS device within iTunes, go to the Apps tab, and scroll down to 'File Sharing'. Here you will see the nSttream (as well as probably other of your app logos). Click on nStream and on the right hand side of the screen you will see all your nSteam stored playlists. You can select them and save them etc.

But bear in mind, if your uPnP server programme builds a new database or your NAS changes IP address or path to file shares, then these playlists will not find the referenced file, and nStream will show a little red cross by the play listed media.

Pixes

They are stored on the iPad as Chris unfortunately found out when I suggested he reinstalled nStream https://forums.naimaudio.com/topic/nstream-app-issues

Do you have more than one ios device, if you do you han load a playlist and start playing it and then pick it up on the other device and save it.

Simon

I was typing as you posted, that'ts a useful tip, didn't know that.

Only downside is that you have to use iTunes!

Thanks for the useful advice. I use an iPad mini but have never connected it to iTunes (I recently removed iTunes from my laptop as I rarely used it). I will reinstall it and follow Simons advice.
