Very rare analogue CD.
A genuine Virgin copy of Genesis - 'Selling England by the Pound'.
With a spelling mistake to boot!
John.
Aside from spelling digitally wrong, the label is correct. The album was not digitally recorded. The "AAD" SPARS code means analog recorded, analog mixed, and digitally mastered. Any LP from the vinyl era that was later transferred to CD in the late 80's/early 90's will carry the "AAD" code. You may be hard pressed to find a "DDD" code on a CD as the SPARS dropped use of the codes in the early 90's.
My version of Nursery Cryme has an almost identical caption on its rear, save for the number CASCD 1052. Same spelling mistake, too. Quality of this early CD isn't as good as the later digital remasters on the Virgin label though.

I find all the CASCD Genesis CD's preferable to the Virgin 'remasters' myself.
Each to their own I guess.

Absolutely!
John.
The only CD my Rega Saturn will not play is a marked AAD, a 'high quality', Analogue re-recording of some of Spirit's 12 Dreams LP, which somewhat self defeats buying it in the first place, the CDP reads the disc as blank. My Imac27 will play it. I tried ripping it and burning onto a blank CD but the Rega will not have that either. It happily plays the few other Cds I have burnt on the mac however. Do Naim CD players have any issues with AAD?
Thanks

My CDX2.2 doesn't

The SPARS code has nothing to do with CD replay; it is merely an indicator of the equipment used for the recording/mixing/mastering process. I demoed the Saturn and one reason I went with a Naim CDP is that the Saturn was finicky with several of my disks that otherwise played fine on other CDPs I have. I think the Saturn is more sensitive to dirt or scratches on the CD surface than other players.
Have you tried cleaning the CD? It may have a scratch that only the Saturn is sensitive to.
Thanks Joe, I will try that, and Ill take the CD to work too and try it on my old Rega Planet. How would recommend cleaning the CDs (it's actually a double set, both are read as empty)?
As recommended by the CD makers, just plain water on a soft, clean cloth and wipe radially, from the center to the outer edge. Never wipe in a circle.
If it is noticeably scratched you can have it polished. Video game shops here do it for a few bucks.
Thanks again Joe, cleaned and still wont play. The Rega Planet wouldnt have it either but it's back in the Imac and playing fine. Ill try and reburn it onto another CD. Shoulda been more patient and will try and track down the very scarce LP version.
Interesting tip about video game shops too, but too old to go into one! Cheers John
