Private messages on the forum
Posted by: Pierre Isabelle on 17 February 2014
I would like to reach a member of our community but I haven't found how to send private messages on this forum. Is there a way to do that?
Pierre
Suggest you just put "PRIVATE" at the top of the message then no-one will read it, Pierre.
(or to be really sneaky, write them in French - that will make sure the majority of inquisitive forum people are kept in the dark... well, those who haven't discovered Google translate, anyway)

Joking aside; if Pierre isn't aware foreign language posts aren't allowed on the forum.

Quoi !!! C'est un scandale, je vous le jure, un scandale !!! *
Pierre : assuming the member you're trying to reach has not provided contact information in his profile, you could either 1/ put up a new post " Paging the honourable xxxx " asking for that person to contact you (provide your email address in a form that can't be machine read), or 2/ contact Richard Dane and ask him to put you in contact with the person.
* Posting en français is admis since la fusion with Focal.

In fact, that's a good way of ensuring that everyone will read it!
A morbid sense of curiosity is part of human nature.

Pierre,
the principle here is that anything you say should be transparent and suitable for all members to see - it is a group discussion. Often the reason members want a private discussion is to talk about matters that contravene forum rules - there's not much point in having rules if they can be so easily circumvented. If you feel it's of importance then do send Naim an e-mail with details of who you want to contact and why and we can then take a view as to what is appropriate.
