Not Scandinavian enough!

For me the problem with these detectives - Marple (except when played by the great Margaret Rutherford) Maigret, Poirot, etc - is that they're just not very interesting as characters.

It's the stories that are fascinating to me!

I like the idea of a central character without too much charisma.
