TESCO scam

Be Aware :

 

I received an e-mail today supposedly from TESCO asking me to click on a link to a customer survey for a £60 reward. In a moment of stupidity I clicked on the link and it took me to a web site looking like a TESCO one, complete with bank verification logos.

I became suspicious when details required were full name, address, phone number, sort code account no. etc. I duly exited the site and notified TESCO asking for verification.

Please be aware of this.

Hi Graham,

 

I happened to check my Junk mailbox today to look for an email I'd been expecting. I was amazed how many obvious scam emails were amongst them including one purporting to be from Paypal. The lesson is never log directly in via an email and never ever give any details on a website opened from one of them. 

 

Being from Yorkshire I'm sure you know the expression "You don't get out for nowt."

Whenever I log into paypal, even when I've typed www.paypal.com into the web address whatsit, I always enter an incorrect password. If I don't get a message telling me I've entered an incorrect password, I'll know it's not the paypal webpage.

I just go to paypal.com apart from the email, almost never is the email really from them - I then forward the email to spoof@paypal.com - they may or may not be able to shut the bums down, but in the even t that they can mess them up it's worth the 5 seconds of time...

I even get scam emails supposedly from companieshouse.gov.uk! It's a joke.

I've had a whole spate of scam emails purportedly from Paypal - like DrMark I've sent them all on to spoof@paypal.com and every time paypal has confirmed them as fraudulent. They (the scam emails) stopped eventually!

 

I like fatcat's policy though, very neat!

I just looked through my spam box after reading this. Good thing I did! Turns out there was a check for $9,809 waiting for me at bankrate.com. All I had to do was send them my checking account number and bank routing number. The money will be deposited within a week. What a country!

 

I'm thinking there might be a new SN2 in my future .

That's nothing, I had the wife of the president of Syria contact me recently asking me if it was ok to put $500 million in my bank account in return for 10% commission. I now have a Naim Statement on order.
