Copying playlists to usb? Help appreciated

Posted by: Nick58 on 03 March 2014

Hi all

I have a synology DS212 and uniti2 and used an iPad running n-stream to control the system. Works really well and sounds great.

Over time my wife and I have built up our own fav playlists - I would like to move(copy really) the playlists and songs to a USB stick for listening to in my car and the wife wants her tunes on her iPod or jogging. Appreciate any input as I have been battling with this for a while and have to admit defeat - as ever I am hoping someone a bit more tech savvy has a solution?

PS - not sure which forum so went with this !

Thanks for looking

You certainly can do it manually -- just copy the songs you want, to where you want them: the usb stick for the car, and for the iPod, import them into her iTunes library.

Then, for the iPod, make a playlist in iTunes.

This is how I would do it.  There is no cross-platform elegant technological solution that I'm aware of.

Sure thing, Nick.

I have most of my Naim music mirrored in a lossy iTunes library for the car, iTunes Match, etc.  Not all of it, but a good bit of it.

I suspect that it's not going to help but here is what I do.

I use MediaMonkey to organise my music. With that I can :-

  • Export any playlist to the playlists floder on my Synology NAS (it will create the list in unix format).
  • Use any playlist to send the media files to my iBasso portable player.
  • Export the playlist and files to anything else I want.
  • Stream any playlist to the DSaudio app on a phone.

Does nstream not have the ability of saving playlists in m3u format?
