Has anyone ever had the chance to experience one of them? What were they thinking?

Hi Tony.

Never see or heard an in car Lp12,  but I do seem to remember that John Lennon had one.

Graham,

Last I heard Peter of Cymbiosis is working on a prototype with Steve J as consultant!

George also had one;

Probably one of these;

They only play 7" singles/EP's so maybe there is room for designing a new in-car player that can play LP's. I'll contact Peter and see what we can come up with.

I had an LP12 in my car.

It was on it's way to Leicester.

I had an LP 12 on trains and trams in Warsaw and Krakow and the express-train between Warsaw and krakow!

I was never sure it was level enough. On the airplane from Krakow to Birmingham it certainly wa not!

In Warsaw airport they thought it was an elaborate bomb, and I was taken into a side room and questioned. I called it  "Stare gramophone!"

From Birmingham to Leicester, i had lost the will to live.

That was my last time of caring for one, though it was rebuilt and is now happy with a new owner, and this was in 2007, so a long time ago ...
