(I hope PaulS and Dougy will allow this to stay here, given its the most popular forum hereabouts)

I was contacted early this morning by Peter Swain of Cymbiosis with tragic news. He asked me to post here.

"Jon, I felt I needed to let you know that Jane took her own life on Sunday. She had been suffering with a little depression for the last year and was taking mild medication. She had never shown any signs of self harming and she was surrounded by a close and loving family.

We are devastated. She seemed so good last week when I went to Switzerland for five days work and she went to visit her parents in Salisbury, she sounded fine when I called her there and her parents say that she was good too, if maybe a little quiet.

She left them on Saturday, came home and spoke to my Mum on Sunday morning, in advance of seeing her in the evening for dinner.

When she didn’t turn up or answer the phones, Mum called the Police who called and entered our house, finding Jane dead. By the time I got home from Heathrow, the Police had tidied up the scene in the bedroom and had taken some letters she wrote and other materials, I guess the tablets she used.

They allowed me to spend some time with her cuddling her before her body was taken to Kettering General. I am devastated. Tom and Nikki equally so. They are both being very strong for me.

They are everything to me.

Peter"

Jane, his wife, was from Salisbury and kept her maiden name of Shellabear. Her parents still live in Salisbury and the family have many contacts there.

Our hearts go out to him, his family and staff in this most difficult of times. I know the Naim family will support him as best we can.

Yes Arthur, I have good memories of us going round the Naim factory together while our wives and your youngest went up Salisbury Cathedral spire and took time to look around the City.

Stonehenge was cold and snowy, but being able to warm up with tea and chocolate biscuits with Nigel @ Chord Co later was perfect.

We shall never forget these wonderful days and Jane's care. She took my small son to Cathedral and he was so excited when telling us the details of this trip later. And then she was telling us the stories of how she climbed the stones when she was a child ...

Dear Peter and family

Such tragic news, be strong for each other.

People who take their own lives have fought and tragically lost a dreadful battle within themselves.

It is not - is never - a reflection on those they leave behind, and from her note Jane meant for you to know this.

The strength and pain of grief now is an indication of the power and comfort of the memories to come. Which they will, one day.

Many condolences.

The Naim distribution worldwide is a family and when such a tragedy happens, it affects us all...even if we have never met. Peter, accept my sincere condolences.

On Sunday 16th March 2014 Jane Shellabear, loving mother of Tom Swain (22) and Nikki Swain(19), wife and soul mate of Peter Swain and friend to so many, took her own life. Jane had been suffering with mild depression over the past couple of years and had been making great steps forward over the past few months.

We have been overwhelmed by the kind words and messages of sympathy and support from across the globe for our tragic loss.

A number of people have asked if they can make a donation to a charity in Jane’s name. Jane herself supported many charities, but in her final letter had requested that it would be fitting if any donations could go to one of the following:

Mind (The National association for Mental Health) http://www.mind.org.uk/

Pathfinder International. http://www.pathfinder.org/

Freedom from Torture http://www.freedomfromtorture.org/

Thomas, Nikki and I would like to thank everyone for their kind words and sympathies at this difficult time; she was a brilliant mother and an amazing wife and will be greatly missed by all.

Sincere condolences to you Peter & your family.

Mental health issues are often misunderstood by the general public, yet many, many people suffer from this illness in silence.
