(I hope PaulS and Dougy will allow this to stay here, given its the most popular forum hereabouts)
I was contacted early this morning by Peter Swain of Cymbiosis with tragic news. He asked me to post here.
"Jon, I felt I needed to let you know that Jane took her own life on Sunday. She had been suffering with a little depression for the last year and was taking mild medication. She had never shown any signs of self harming and she was surrounded by a close and loving family.
We are devastated. She seemed so good last week when I went to Switzerland for five days work and she went to visit her parents in Salisbury, she sounded fine when I called her there and her parents say that she was good too, if maybe a little quiet.
She left them on Saturday, came home and spoke to my Mum on Sunday morning, in advance of seeing her in the evening for dinner.
When she didn’t turn up or answer the phones, Mum called the Police who called and entered our house, finding Jane dead. By the time I got home from Heathrow, the Police had tidied up the scene in the bedroom and had taken some letters she wrote and other materials, I guess the tablets she used.
They allowed me to spend some time with her cuddling her before her body was taken to Kettering General. I am devastated. Tom and Nikki equally so. They are both being very strong for me.
They are everything to me.
Peter"
Jane, his wife, was from Salisbury and kept her maiden name of Shellabear. Her parents still live in Salisbury and the family have many contacts there.
Our hearts go out to him, his family and staff in this most difficult of times. I know the Naim family will support him as best we can.

I have just heard this tragic news from Pete at Acoustica in Chester - I don't go on the forum much these days.
Like everyone else who has posted on here, I would like to offer my heartfelt sympathy to Peter and his family.
Peter sorted out my LP12 and came to my house to set it up about 5 years ago. As we talked it turned out that he lives in the next village from my brother. A few weeks later, on Christmas Day, Peter very kindly sent me a photograph of a beautiful winter scene from his village. He clearly takes a lot of interest in his customers and is rightly held in very high esteem by so many of us who have dealt with him over the years.
My thoughts are with you Peter.

This is the first time in ages that I've visited Hi-Fi Corner, completely oblivious to this terrible news. Peter, you are a rare person, a top top man. Wholly inadequate as it feels, I can only wish you every sympathy and strength to bond with your children and close family to support each other through what must be a devastatingly challenging period. Sincerest condolences.

Peter,
I am very sorry to hear of your wife's passing.
My wife has suffered from severe Bipolar Disorder for most of her adult life.
The challenges that you and your family face are a real fear of mine.
Thankfully we have the strong support of both doctors and family to help keep her as healthy as possible.
I appreciate the effort you and your family are making regarding mental health awareness. I wish you all the best at this difficult time.

Thank you all for your very kind and supportive words and actions. Tom's fundraising for MIND now exceeds £3000.00.
Yesterday Jane's inquest was opened and adjourned until September, but at least this allows us to receive an Interim Death Certificate and start to arrange her Funeral.
Everything takes time... The process.....I would not wish this on anyone.
Hopefully, with more awareness and talking, the numbers walking this path over time will become fewer.
Richard, I believe it is appropriate to move this thread to the Padded Cell sometime on Saturday night/Sunday morning. It will be as near as we can know, 14 days since her passing.
Many thanks to you all.
Peter.

Tom completed his first Triathlon yesterday - They call it a sprint apparently!
The swim was about 1km, the cycling was about 20Km (someone mentioned it actually worked out at 24Km and then followed up by a 10km run.
Here are a few pictures:

Leaving the transition area to start the bike/road section:
Tom was rather faster than I'd expected on the bike stage, but this is his specialism, and so by the time I'd got my camera ready, as you can see he'd passed me by

Tom, has had a little preparation for tomorrow's Triathlon in Kettering by walking round Le Mans with me last weekend!!
Hopefully he will do okay and it looks like being a hot day given the weather forecast!!

Last Saturday saw Tom complete the third of his triathlons to raise money for MIND. The last race was in the Docklands area of London.
Sadly work commitments prevented me from going to this, the last of his races this year, but thankfully other members of our family were able to give him some support.
He had taken his preparation seriously and finished this race well, just like the other two.
Here is a link to the race report http://www.cymbiosis.com/cymbi...summer-of-triathlons and a further link to the Just Giving website https://www.justgiving.com/janeshellabear/ if you'd like to see the total raised so far.
Tom had set a target of £500.00, but the generosity of everyone has massively exceeded this figure!
You can be assured that MIND http://www.mind.org.uk/ will put this money to very good use indeed in helping those who need our help. Sincere thanks to all who have contributed.
